We are seeking a Backend Technical Lead to drive backend architecture, technical design, and development standards across the platform. The ideal candidate will lead a team of backend engineers while building scalable APIs, integrations, business workflows, and high-performance backend services that support mission-critical operations.

A Blocks Nexus is building EnsureInsured, a blockchain-powered insurance verification and enforcement ecosystem designed to modernize insurance compliance, fraud prevention, policy verification, and regulatory enforcement through secure digital infrastructure.

The platform leverages Hyperledger Fabric, cloud-native architecture, mobile applications, government dashboards, insurer integrations, and modern API-driven services to create a trusted ecosystem connecting governments, insurers, enforcement agencies, and citizens.

As we scale our engineering organization, we are seeking an experienced Backend Technical Lead to help with designing and implementing large-scale backend architectures, building and managing microservices-based applications, developing and securing RESTful APIs, and leading junior team members.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design, architecture, and development of scalable backend systems and services.
• Define backend development standards, best practices, and technical guidelines.
• Design and implement secure, reliable, and high-performance APIs and integrations.
• Lead the development of business workflows, notification services, and data processing systems.
• Architect and manage microservices-based backend solutions.
• Collaborate with frontend, mobile, DevOps, security, and product teams to deliver end-to-end solutions.
• Conduct code reviews and ensure adherence to architectural and coding standards.
• Optimize system performance, scalability, reliability, and maintainability.
• Troubleshoot complex technical issues and guide solution design.
• Mentor backend developers and support technical growth within the team.
• Drive technical planning, architecture reviews, and technology selection decisions.
• Support deployment, operational readiness, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Key Requirements

• 8+ years of experience in backend software development.
• Strong expertise in Node.js, TypeScript, and NestJS.
• Proven experience designing and implementing large-scale backend architectures.
• Strong experience building and managing microservices-based applications.
• Extensive experience developing and securing RESTful APIs.
• Strong proficiency with PostgreSQL and relational database design.
• Experience designing distributed systems and scalable backend solutions.
• Experience integrating external APIs, enterprise systems, and third-party services.
• Strong understanding of authentication, authorization, and API security best practices.
• Experience with Docker, containerized applications, and modern backend deployment practices.
• Experience working with Git, CI/CD pipelines, and Agile development methodologies.
• Strong understanding of software architecture, design patterns, and clean code principles.
