- Prepare and bake a wide variety of bakery products, including bread, rolls, cookies, tarts, and other pastries, according to Sobeys’ recipes and quality standards.
- Operate and maintain baking equipment, such as ovens, a proofer, and a bread slicer ensuring all tools and machines are used safely and efficiently.
- Monitor product quality and freshness, ensuring that all baked goods meet Sobeys' standards before being displayed for sale.
- Follow food safety, sanitation, and hygiene protocols, maintaining a clean and organized workstation in compliance with provincial and company regulations.
- Manage inventory and stock rotation for bakery ingredients and supplies, ensuring freshness and minimizing waste.
- Assist with merchandising and product display by arranging baked goods attractively in the bakery department.
- Collaborate with team members and respond to customer inquiries and special requests in a courteous and professional manner.
- Participate in planning and preparation for promotional events, seasonal offerings, and daily production schedules based on store demand.
- Maintain production records, such as Fresh Item Management (FIM) sheets.
- May train or support new bakery staff, sharing knowledge of recipes, baking techniques, and safety standards.
- Provide customer service to meet customer needs
- Perform bakery administration
- Prepare baked items for customer purchase
- Maintain bakery production area
- Provide bakery training to new staff
- Adhere to and implement all applicable company standards
- Basic level of bakery knowledge is required
- Ability to work independently in a fast paced environment
- High school diploma
- Minimum of three months experience
