Grey Lex, LLC is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented attorney to lead and expand our Chapter 13 bankruptcy practice. This position is available in both our Baton Rouge and Lafayette offices, and candidates based in either market are welcome. The role is ideal for an attorney who is comfortable managing a high-volume consumer bankruptcy docket, appearing regularly in court, and guiding clients through complex financial restructuring with precision and professionalism.

The successful candidate will take primary responsibility for Chapter 13 matters from intake through confirmation and completion, working closely with support staff to ensure efficient and compliant case administration.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage a full caseload of Chapter 13 bankruptcy cases from initial consultation through discharge
• Conduct client consultations and develop strategic repayment plans tailored to each client’s financial circumstances
• Draft and review Chapter 13 plans, petitions, schedules, and amendments
• Respond to trustee recommendations, objections, and motions
• Appear at § 341 meetings, confirmation hearings, and other court proceedings (in-person and/or virtual)
• Communicate with Chapter 13 trustees, creditors, and opposing counsel
• Ensure compliance with the Bankruptcy Code, Federal Rules of Bankruptcy Procedure, and local rules (including Middle and Western Districts of Louisiana)
• Supervise and collaborate with paralegals and support staff on case preparation and document collection
• Identify and resolve issues affecting plan feasibility, including secured claims, arrearages, and disposable income calculations
• Maintain accurate case notes and deadlines using firm case management systems

Qualifications

• Licensed to practice law in Louisiana and in good standing
• 1–5+ years of bankruptcy experience preferred, with emphasis on Chapter 13 cases
• Strong working knowledge of Chapter 13 practice, including plan confirmation standards and trustee procedures
• Familiarity with CM/ECF filing systems and bankruptcy software (e.g., Jubilee, Best Case, or similar)
• Excellent drafting, analytical, and organizational skills
• Ability to manage deadlines and a high-volume docket with minimal supervision
• Courtroom confidence and professional demeanor
• Strong client communication skills and ability to explain complex financial issues clearly

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience practicing in the Middle District of Louisiana and/or Western District of Louisiana
• Familiarity with local trustee practices and confirmation requirements
• Experience handling motions for relief from stay, objections to claims, and plan modifications
• Background in consumer finance, collections defense, or foreclosure litigation
