PART TIME CATERING ASSISTANT / BARISTA

Welcome to Zen Café where tranquility meets the aroma of freshly brewed coffee and wholesome, healthy fare!

We are currently looking for enthusiastic barista's and catering assistants to join our team in Zen Café, St Luke's General Hospital, Kilkenny, where we pride ourselves on offering great coffee and healthy food sourced from local suppliers, all served with a warm smile.

We are recruiting for a part time position.

Reporting to: MANAGER/SUPERVISOR

Key areas of responsibility:

• Serve customers efficiently and take payments
• Assist in preparation of food, drinks and counters before, during and at the end of service
• Service with a smile

Specific Responsibilities:

• Preparation and serving of menu items (soups & sandwiches)
• Preparation and serving of beverages, including a variety of coffees, to a high standard (barista training will be provided)
• To carry out cleaning and washing, including table clearing, in order to ensure high levels of hygiene
• To help ensure adequate stock levels, restock fridges and counter displays, assist with stock control and rotation, and avoid wastage

Customer Service:

• To demonstrate the highest standards of customer welcome and care when assisting customers at the counter and delivering orders to tables
• To serve customers and correctly operate the till, avoiding unnecessary waiting times and till errors.
• To give advice, guidance and recommendations to customers on menu choices, to ensure a positive experience and repeat business.
• To be a positive ambassador for Zen Cafe, promoting Zen values through personal behaviour and interactions

Team Work:

• To work flexibly as part of a team, assisting other team members and contributing to the smooth and efficient running of Zen Café, including covering for holidays and sickness absences for other staff, as required.

Financial involvement:

• In the absence of the Manager and Supervisor, to balance the till and complete an excel spreadsheet with relevant daily sales information
• To be vigilant to ensure that stock items are held at all times in a hygienic and secure way

Health & Safety, Food Safety, the Environment:

• To adhere to the HACCP, Hygiene, Allergies and Health and Safety policies of Zen Café.
• To rigorously follow all cleaning schedules.

Additional Responsibilities:

• To be a positive ambassador for Zen Café
• To attend to any other duties, as requested by the Zen Café manager and supervisor.
• To complete tasks, as requested, in line with Zen Café policies, procedures, guidelines and management instruction.

Part Time position

Pay: €14.15 - €14.85 per hour DOE

• Kilkenny, County Kilkenny: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)

Experience:

• HACCP: 1 year (preferred)
• Hospitality: 1 year (preferred)
