Overview
We are seeking a friendly and organized Cafe Assistant to join our team. This role is ideal for individuals passionate about the food industry, providing excellent customer service, and maintaining a clean and efficient cafe environment. The Cafe Assistant will support daily operations, assist customers, and ensure a welcoming atmosphere for all patrons. Prior experience in food service or barista roles is a plus, but we welcome motivated candidates eager to learn. This position offers an opportunity to develop skills in food handling, cashiering, and food preparation within a dynamic team setting.

Responsibilities

• Greet customers warmly and provide attentive service to ensure a positive experience
• Operate POS systems, for order processing and cash handling
• Prepare and serve beverages and light food items following safety and quality standards
• Handle cash transactions accurately, including math calculations and change management
• Maintain cleanliness of work areas, counters, and dining spaces in accordance with food safety protocols
• Restock supplies and ensure the cafe is well-organized throughout shifts
• Assist with food preparation tasks as needed, adhering to proper food handling procedures
• Manage time effectively during busy periods to serve customers efficiently
• Uphold food safety standards and ensure compliance with health regulations

Qualifications

• Previous experience in food service or barista roles is preferred; familiarity with serving and food preparation is advantageous
• Proficiency with POS systems, particularly Micros POS, is a plus
• Strong customer service skills with a friendly and professional demeanor
• Excellent time management abilities to handle multiple tasks efficiently during shifts
• Basic math skills for cash handling and transaction accuracy
• Knowledge of food safety practices and proper food handling procedures
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail
• Reliable and punctual with a positive attitude toward teamwork and learning opportunities

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $17.20-$21.00 per hour

Expected hours: 15 – 25 per week
