Job Summary
The Bartender / Restaurant Supervisor is responsible for providing excellent food and beverage service while supporting the smooth day-to-day operation of the restaurant and bar. This position combines bartending responsibilities with supervisory duties, including overseeing staff, maintaining service standards, handling customer concerns, and ensuring a clean, safe, and welcoming environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and serve alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages according to recipes and customer requests.
- Provide friendly, professional, and efficient customer service.
- Supervise restaurant and bar staff during assigned shifts and ensure duties are completed properly.
- Assign tasks and coordinate staff to maintain efficient service during busy periods.
- Train and support new employees on service standards, workplace procedures, and responsible alcohol service.
- Monitor guest satisfaction and professionally resolve customer questions, concerns, and complaints.
- Process customer payments and operate POS and cash-handling systems accurately.
- Assist with opening and closing procedures, including cash reconciliation and securing the restaurant/bar.
- Monitor liquor, beverage, and restaurant supplies and report or replenish inventory as required.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the bar, dining area, service stations, and related work areas.
- Ensure staff follow food safety, sanitation, workplace safety, and responsible alcohol service requirements.
- Communicate effectively with kitchen staff, servers, bartenders, and management to ensure smooth operations.
- Monitor employee performance and provide guidance when necessary.
- Assist management with scheduling, inventory control, and other operational duties as required.
Qualifications & Skills
- Previous bartending, restaurant, or hospitality experience preferred.
- Supervisory or team-lead experience is an asset.
- Strong customer service and communication skills.
- Ability to lead and motivate a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Knowledge of cocktails, beer, wine, spirits, and responsible alcohol service.
- Strong organizational, multitasking, and problem-solving abilities.
- Comfortable handling cash and using POS systems.
- Ability to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and varying shifts as required.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and perform the physical duties associated with restaurant and bar service.
