Job Summary:

Custodians have knowledge, skills and abilities in keeping the schools clean and safe working both inside the building and outside doing varies tasks that keep the schools clean, sanitary, looking nice and to operate smoothly.

Job Responsibilities:

The Behavior Support Specialist is a collaborative educational professional dedicated to helping every student develop the social, emotional, and behavioral skills needed to thrive in school and beyond. Serving three community campus schools, this position works alongside teachers and students to implement behavior initiatives, supporting campuses, coordinating the organizations’ Character Education Program, collecting and analyzing behavior data, and providing direct services to students.
Through classroom coaching, direct student support, professional learning, and consultation, the Behavior Support Specialist empowers educators with practical strategies that promote inclusion, positive behavior, and student independence.
This role focuses on prevention, skill development, and early intervention while partnering with the Autism Specialist, Behavior Specialists, and multidisciplinary teams to ensure comprehensive support for students across all 3 campus settings.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Support the implementation of the organization's Character Education Program across all campuses.
  • Provide direct instruction to individual students, small groups, and classrooms using the Character Education curriculum.
  • Reinforce positive behavior expectations and school-wide behavior initiatives through modeling, coaching, and positive reinforcement.
  • Assist students in developing self-regulation, social-emotional, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Facilitate restorative conversations and conflict resolution activities with students as appropriate.
  • Monitor student participation and progress within the Character Education Program and communicate outcomes to the Director of Behavior.
  • Assist with planning and coordinating school-wide character education events, recognition programs, assemblies, and incentive activities.
  • Collaborate with teachers to reinforce character education lessons and behavior expectations within the classroom.
  • Develop engaging activities and materials that support character education themes and social-emotional learning.
  • Provide behavioral coaching and support to students during classroom instruction, transitions, lunch, recess, and other school activities as directed.
  • Assist with de-escalation strategies and implementation of proactive behavior supports under the guidance of the Behavior Department.
  • Model appropriate social skills, emotional regulation, and expected school behaviors for students.
  • Build positive, supportive relationships with students while maintaining professional boundaries and promoting a safe, inclusive learning environment.
  • Support the Director of Behavior with daily operations and department initiatives.
  • Visit community school campuses to assist with behavior program implementation and follow-up.
  • Collect, organize, analyze, and graph behavior data.
  • Maintain confidential behavior records and documentation.
  • Coordinate meetings, training, and departmental communications.
  • Prepare reports, presentations, and data summaries for leadership.
  • Assist with tracking behavior plans, assessments, and compliance timelines.
  • Support community school teams through organization of behavior resources and materials.
  • Maintain inventory of behavior assessment and intervention materials.
  • Perform other duties as assigned in support of the Behavior Department.

Education and Training:

Bachelor’s degree – In Behavior Analysis, Psychology, Social Work, or Exceptional Student Education

AND

Florida Statement of Eligibility in ESE

Safety Care Trained (current)

Minimum 3 years’ Experience:

  • Experience in behavior support in a school setting.
  • Experience collecting, analyzing and utilizing behavior data.
  • Experience assessing, developing, and implementing character building, independent functioning and social skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to teach and successfully perform clinical behavior analysis with a wide variety of behavioral problems.
