SUMMARY:
The successful candidate(s) who join our empowered, customer focus team will share our values and dedication to customer service and exceeding expectations. This integral position ensures excellence in guest service throughout the entire duration of a guests’ stay by devoting added care and attention. The Bell Person reports directly to the Guest Services Manager.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Act as an ambassador and welcoming component of our guests’ arrival
- Assisting with luggage to and from rooms
- Creating and or locating items such as maps, directions or supplies that guests may require
- Arrangement of transportation, reservations or services for guests as required (restaurant, theatre, etc.)
- Problem solving guest concerns and proactively exceeding guest expectations
- Valet parking of guest vehicles
- Keeping adequate supplies of brochures, maps, and tourist information available for guest use
- Providing thorough information about our hotel rooms, amenities, services and local attractions
- Ensure timely retrieval of all luggage, packages etc. that have been checked at the bells stand- using proper documentation procedures
- Maintain post by bell desk and/or front entrance when not assisting a guest to ensure visibility and availability for all guests
- Complete all required checklists/paperwork during shift as required. Includes but not limited to: valet list, check out log, daily checklist, valet
- Responding promptly to all requests by guests and employees and informing appropriate contact of maintenance deficiencies, guest concerns or service issues
- Working closely with all hotel departments to improve service delivery and efficiency
- Participation in committees, focus group meetings and departmental meetings
- Ensure the work environment is tidy and well organized at all times – Own the lobby
- Other duties as assigned by supervisor or management may be modified upon business necessity.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must have valid G license with excellent record and able to drive automatic and 5 speed vehicles
- Must have a clear Driver Abstract
- Excellent communication skills in English (other languages, including French, a definite asset)
- Excellent organizational, interpersonal and administration skills
- Demonstrated knowledge of guest/ customer service and a genuine desire to exceed guest expectations
- Impeccable attention to detail while working in a fast paced environment
- Must be flexible with regard to scheduling inclusive of weekends and holidays
- Must be professional in appearance and demeanor, combined with approachability and empathy
- Previous customer service experience a definite asset
- Must be health & safety conscious
- Ability to drive Manual Transmission ('stick-shift') a requirement
- In order to be a Valet in the Province of Ontario you are required to have a minimum of 6 years’ driving experience with a satisfactory driving record and hold a “G” license. A successful candidate will be required to provide the Hotel with a fresh/recent copy of their driving abstract which is available on line.
