Job Summary
We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Medical Receptionist to join our healthcare team! In this vital role, you will serve as the first point of contact for patients, providing exceptional customer service while managing a wide range of administrative and clinical support tasks. Responsibilities

  • Greet patients warmly and professionally, ensuring a positive first impression.
  • Manage appointment scheduling using EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems such as Epic, Meditech, Athenahealth, or eClinicalWorks.
  • Verify insurance coverage and perform insurance eligibility checks, including Medicare and Medicaid.
  • Collect patient information accurately and update medical records in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
  • Handle multi-line phone systems with excellent phone etiquette, directing calls efficiently.
  • Assist with patient intake processes, including data entry and documentation review for accuracy.
  • Perform billing and coding tasks using CPT, ICD-9, ICD-10 codes, ensuring proper medical billing procedures are followed.
  • Maintain organized medical records and files using dental or medical office management software like Dentrix or Eaglesoft when applicable.
  • Support medical administrative functions such as appointment reminders, follow-up scheduling, and care plan documentation.
  • Verify insurance benefits, process payments, and manage collections related to medical services.
  • Ensure compliance with HIPAA standards by safeguarding patient information during all interactions.

Experience

  • Prior experience working in a medical office environment is highly preferred.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with EMR/EHR systems such as Epic, Meditech, Athenahealth, Dentrix, Eaglesoft, or similar platforms.
  • Strong knowledge of medical terminology, ICD coding (ICD-9/ICD-10), CPT coding, and medical billing procedures.
  • Experience with insurance verification processes and Medicare/Medicaid guidelines.
  • Excellent customer service skills with the ability to handle sensitive situations professionally.
  • Bilingual abilities are a plus to serve diverse patient populations effectively.
  • Familiarity with office management tools including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel) and typing skills (including 10-key).
