Role Overview
The Bistro Manager is the operational leader of Juniper Bistro's front of house, responsible for ensuring smooth daily service, financial accountability, and the consistent delivery of exceptional guest experiences. With vision and energy, this role is responsible for setting high service standards, leading and developing the front-of-house team, and creating a professional, collaborative environment where staff feel supported and ready to succeed. They also champion Juniper Bistro’s sustainability and environmental goals by embedding responsible practices into daily operations, ensuring FOH systems and service standards reflect Juniper’s commitment to nature-positive operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure the delivery of an exceptional guest experience by maintaining a strong floor presence, leading FOH service execution, and delivering prompt, polished, and personalized hospitality.
- Oversee FOH recruitment, onboarding, and scheduling to ensure staffing levels align with business needs.
- Deliver training in service standards, upselling, wine and beverage knowledge, compliance requirements, and guest engagement.
- Track all FOH assets to keep the restaurant fully equipped for smooth service while controlling costs and minimizing waste.
- Maintain a safe workplace, food safety, liquor service, and OH&S standards. Report all accidents and incidents properly.
- Monitor and respond to guest feedback, reviews, and service trends, using insights to anticipate needs and continuously improve the dining experience.
- Produce detailed weekly FOH reports and contribute to broader financial and operational reporting.
- Control FOH labour and non-alcoholic beverage, linen, supply, and maintenance costs to ensure alignment with budget targets.
Requirements:
- A University degree or college diploma in business, hospitality management or a related field is preferred.
- Minimum three years' restaurant management experience.
- Financial planning and budgeting experience is an asset.
- Experience in customer service and people management is required.
- Demonstrated ability to lead and direct a team.
- Strong knowledge of hospitality industry principles, methods, and practices.
- Highly flexible, with solid interpersonal skills that allow one to work effectively in a diverse working environment.
- Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing.
- High level of computer proficiency.
- Strong wine knowledge an asset.
