Title: Boiler Operator

Objectives/Summary/Purpose:

The Boiler Operator is a crucial position in the overall productivity and function of a sawmill. Boiler Operators are responsible for the safe, smooth and continual production of steam for use in the kilns, to heat the mill/planer buildings and the heating of log loading ramps. It is through his/her efforts that sawn boards are properly dried as to produce the highest quality lumber.Through the Boiler Operator’s efforts and with the cooperation between departments, production staff, maintenance personnel, and quality control metrics, the production of the highest quality lumber can be assured and the required standards for safety, quality, recovery, and reliability will be achieved.

Responsibilities/Duties:

· Operate boiler safely and efficiently to produce steam

· Operate kiln to dry green lumber into kiln dried lumber that meets industry and company specifications

· Perform boiler and kiln maintenance such as greasing of equipment and replacing failed parts

· Monitor all boiler and kiln equipment for performance and function.

· Log data on log sheets/books

· Sample and treat water systems. Perform general water treatment activities such as: water conductivity analysis, boiler chemical and water treatment system monitoring

· Perform assigned duties such as: equipment checks, housekeeping, kiln charge building, starting and completing

· Assist the Fuel Operator as needed

· Participate in mandatory training sessions related to all systems

· Mastering system functions and how each system effects the operation as a whole and how changes in one system effect other systems

· Respond to emergencies and malfunctions immediately and work quickly to correct the problem(s) safely and effectively

· Monitor and respond to Fire System Alarms and conditions

· Adhering to all plant safety/environmental guidelines, policies and procedures ·

· Assisting co-workers as needed

· Multi-task and set priorities effectively

· Thoughtful time management

· Strive to meet or exceed production, waste and quality goals

Requirements:

** You must have experience for this position.

** You must pass drug and alcohol screening and background check.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $19.00 per hour
