Job Title: Breakfast Chef Location: The Shack, Tralee, Co. Kerry Hours: Full-Time, 9:00 AM - 3:00 PM, 4 days per week Salary: €14 - €16 per hour, based on experience and qualifications Reports to: Kitchen Manager About The Shack The Shack is a cherished neighbourhood diner in Tralee, Co. Kerry, with over three decades of foodservice excellence. We’ve built a loyal customer base who trust us to deliver the best quality dishes every time. From our traditional fried breakfast to classic eggs Benedict, we take pride in offering a variety of breakfast favourites prepared with care and consistency. As we gear up for an exciting new concept in 2025, we are looking for a passionate Breakfast Chef to uphold and elevate our breakfast offering. We offer: 4 weeks of annual leave per year. Staff meals provided onsite Free onsite parking and easy access via the main bus route. Job Purpose As a Breakfast Chef, you will be at the heart of our breakfast service, crafting everything from hearty traditional breakfasts to refined classics like eggs Benedict. You’ll ensure that every dish is delivered to the highest standard, delighting our loyal customers while contributing to the evolving concept of The Shack. Key Responsibilities Food Preparation and Cooking: Prepare and cook a range of breakfast dishes, including traditional fried breakfasts, eggs Benedict, omelettes, pancakes, and breakfast sandwiches. Innovate and contribute to the creation of seasonal breakfast specials while maintaining customer favourites. Maintain consistency and quality across all dishes, ensuring they meet The Shack’s high standards. Plate dishes attractively and efficiently to ensure prompt service during busy periods. Operational Excellence: Organise and manage the breakfast service to meet customer demand. Ensure workstations are clean, organised, and stocked in compliance with food safety standards. Monitor inventory and order breakfast supplies to avoid shortages and minimise waste. Quality and Compliance: Adhere to all food safety, hygiene, and allergen handling regulations. Uphold The Shack’s reputation for quality by consistently delivering excellent dishes. Ensure the proper use and maintenance of kitchen equipment, reporting any issues promptly. Team Collaboration: Work closely with the kitchen and front-of-house teams to ensure smooth and efficient service. Communicate effectively with colleagues to address customer preferences and special requests. Provide input and feedback for menu planning and operational improvements. Essential Skills and Experience High understanding of English required, Proven experience as a Breakfast Chef or in a similar role within a fast-paced kitchen. Strong knowledge of breakfast cooking techniques, including frying, poaching, and baking. Familiarity with traditional breakfast dishes and modern classics like eggs Benedict. Understanding of food safety and hygiene standards (HACCP certification is a plus). Ability to work efficiently under pressure while maintaining consistency and quality. A passion for delivering top-quality food and exceptional dining experiences. Personal Attributes Positive, enthusiastic, and self-motivated. Organised and detail-oriented, with excellent time management skills. A team player with strong communication abilities. Flexibility to adapt to changing needs and maintain composure during busy periods. What We Offer Competitive hourly wage (€14 - €16, based on experience). 4 weeks of annual leave per year.
