A young engineering firm is seeking an energetic and self-motivated individual to join our thriving business development team. The successful candidate will have proven sales experience, be a team player, possess excellent communication skills and perform internal processing of incoming client RFPs (Request for Proposals). As the successful candidate, you must be comfortable creating target lists, prospecting new clients by networking, cold calling, advertising or other means of generating interest from potential clients. This includes exploring client needs, describing suitable products, and communicating the unique value provided by the company.

The ideal candidate has experience in business development, sourcing new opportunities and fostering strong client relationships. This includes having the proven ability to build and develop a base of clients “from scratch”.

Responsibilities:

  • Initiate new client contacts and develop and maintain relationships with existing clients
  • Provide ongoing progress updates on new business development activities and other key indicators to the management team.
  • Maintain communication with client contacts, current targeted project status, and known future bidding opportunities. Deliver exceptional presentations and proposals to clients to win business.
  • Identify and develop relationships with industry professionals to generate new business opportunities.
  • Assist in formulating project budgets
  • Attend industry events, trade shows and other meetings to stay abreast of market conditions, competition, and establish relationships with existing clients and prospects.
  • Coordinate with and assist CEO & Estimating in formulating the annual business development plan for the market or region
  • Develop strategies to optimize project opportunities and meet market business development goals.
  • Organize and tender qualification data to clients. Lead the effort in developing presentation materials.
  • Carry out general office administration tasks as needed.

Requirements:

  • Post-secondary diploma or degree in Business Administration is required
  • Minimum 2+ years of business development experience with a building industry, General Contractor, Architectural and engineering firms
  • Shall have a good understanding of construction, including a field perspective and/or work in a preconstruction capacity
  • Outstanding presentation and relationship building skills.
  • Demonstration of a consistent over-achievement of client acquisition and sales revenue targets
  • Ability to maintain strong sales management focus
  • Demonstrated ability to manage complex negotiations
  • Must display initiative, leadership, and independent thinking in a team environment;
  • strong ability to solve problems.
  • Proven interpersonal, verbal and written skills

· Education:

  • Degree in business administration/marketing.

Qualifications

  • Highly organized and able to work in a dynamic atmosphere
  • Excellent interpersonal skills; a person who listens well, respects diversity of opinions and has an open, clear and succinct communication style.
  • Effective organizational and time management skills in handling multiple projects, performing a variety of tasks, and meeting required deadlines.
  • Ability to represent the company to the staff, clients and community by ensuring the best image is presented.
  • Application knowledge of the following systems and programs: Adobe InDesign and MS Office.
  • Able to take on new/additional roles and responsibilities on a pro-active basis.
  • Fluent in English.
  • Second Asian language is an asset.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $55,400.00-$70,000.00 per year
