Working alongside the Regional Director, Commercial Director and Operations Director, the Business Development & Sales Manager/ Director will drive business growth in the Eastern Hemisphere region by employing their vision, market insight and a creative ‘can do’ attitude to building strong relationships with clients and identify and develop opportunities that align with Sulmara’s values and that ultimately deliver value to our customers.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
  • Contribute, challenge and commit to the successful implementation of Sulmara’s 5-year Growth Plan, ensuring the implementation is tailored to the diverse markets and geographies of the region.
  • Undertake market analysis and evaluation to identify and develop BD/Sales strategies around key accounts, key technologies and key opportunities that support Sulmara’s growth plan.
  • Develop and implement successful market entry strategies for new regions, countries and market sectors.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with a network of clients and stakeholders at all levels across the energy sector value chain.
  • Take ownership and Maintain momentum of business development in existing territories and market sectors, both traditional and new frontier.
  • Identify and develop BD/Sales strategies around key clients, key accounts and key opportunities that support Sulmara’s growth plan.
  • With the above, identify promote and apply key technologies from Sulmara’s toolbox where relevant in adding value to the respective project and client.
  • Develop and implement smart sales initiatives based on a single sales objective for a given market, client and/or opportunity, where the narrative is altered to mitigate cost sensitivities where possible.
  • Technical ability to review and analyse client RFQs and ITTs, to provide input into Bid / No-Bid decisions and support the compilation of commercial and contractual requirements to ensure Sulmara’s win strategy is consistent at every stage up to tender submission, subsequent clarifications all the way through to contract award.
  • Actively pursue leads and opportunities from early client engagement, through the sales lifecycle to close and beyond.
  • Represent Sulmara at exhibitions, conferences and industry networking events throughout the region.
  • Provide leadership, guidance and mentoring to other members of the Sulmara sales team.
  • Participate in weekly sales calls, taking the lead on communicating, advising and updating on prospects logged and tracked in the CRM.
  • Travel extensively to client meetings, exhibitions, networking events, and management meetings.
  • Coordinate and rigorously plan travel itineraries to make the most effective use of time and resources.

Skills Requirements
  • Good commercial and offshore energy market awareness.
  • Effective conceptual and critical thinking skills supported by a strong sense of personal accountability.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently, proactively and positively in a rapidly evolving and sometimes ambiguous market environment.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and to work to deadlines.
  • Good knowledge of and skills in Microsoft Office packages to generate various reports, presentations and data management.
  • Excellent communication skills in English (written and spoken), other languages are a plus.
  • Prior experience in an offshore services industry with an established network of contacts will be an advantage.
  • Valid Driving License.
  • Valid unrestricted passport.
  • Resident of based Region.
Experience, Competency and Qualifications
  • Degree qualified preferably in Maritime, survey or related subsea discipline, or equivalent demonstrable industry experience.
  • Extensive knowledge / experience related to the offshore energy and or offshore survey sectors.
  • Proven track record in generating new business in the offshore energy industry.
  • Proven track record in generating new business within a new region or market sector.
