Summary:

Selects and maintains suppliers. Procures materials and services and expedites purchase orders. Obtains quotes, processes requisitions, and maintains related records. Is authorized to expend funds for both high and low cost items as necessary for the company to meet contractual commitments and company needs. Manages commodities for Purchasing unit of measure, excess inventory, minimum buys, order multiples, etc.

Responsibilities/Skills:

§ Serves as liaison between Inter-Coastal Electronics and suppliers in support of complex contract manufacturing and build-to-print work orders.

§ Provides necessary equipment, materials, parts, services, and supplies for the company by identifying suppliers, making payment arrangements, and arranging delivery and/or shipping.

§ Determines and documents purchasing specifications and performance requirements on purchase orders.

§ Perform requirements analysis on components prior to acting on PO requisition.

§ Coordinate purchasing activities with manufacturing, planning and engineering departments to as required to meet the production schedule.

§ Analyzes manufacturing requirements, engineering design, and/or technical data when necessary.

§ Analyzes Class Codes to maintain proper balance of cost savings vs. inventory excess.

§ Assists Material Supervisor in preparing Material Pricing Proposals for new contract efforts.

§ Identifies, investigates, and recommends potential and existing suppliers.

§ Assists in creating and implementing department procedures.

§ Maintain Obsolescence Report on a quarterly basis.

§ Performs end of year Supplier Evaluations per ISO.

§ Performs other duties as assigned.

Problem Solving and Discretion/Latitude:

§ Frequent use and general knowledge of industry practices, techniques and standards.

§ Develops solutions to a variety of problems of moderate scope and complexity, and refers to policies and practice for guidance.

§ Works under general direction.

§ Work is reviewed for soundness of judgment and overall adequacy and accuracy.

Knowledge/Requirements:

§ Bachelor's degree required, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

§ 5+ years of purchasing experience, or continued education toward degree and at least 8 years of purchasing experience.

§ Government contractor experience preferred.

§ Manufacturing or engineering industry purchasing experience required.
