Spacecraft configuration designer – Job profile description

Role:

The candidate will cover the role of configuration designer of layout and harness of Spacecraft Systems. He/she would make use of software engineering design tools to define internal and external layout of a complete Spacecraft (equipment, appendixes, passive and active antennas, thermal and electrical hardware) in support to executive projects and studies for Telecommunications Satellites.

In addition, he/she will be part of the Satellite System team and will support the team in the frame of the Space System activities, supporting also the preparation of technical documents and presentations.

Responsibilities

• Study of spacecraft internal and external layouts, technically interacting and supporting the Payload and Bus platform subsystems/equipment design and analyses team
• Design, modelling and optimization of DC, 1553, CANBUS, SpaceWire and RF harness routing (coax cables and waveguides), and propulsion piping
• Definition of supporting and fixation structures, as needed based on the harness and piping routing
• Realization of feasible and ergonomic studies and design
• Study of AIT integration sequence
• Realization of 3D CAD models and 2D Drawings (included manufacturing files)
• Plan and coordinate activities upon request.

Experience / Qualifications

• Excellent knowledge and work experience in Catia V5 tool – mechanical and electrical design package
• Good Knowledge of CATIA Composer
• Good Knowledge of MS Office suite
• Knowledge of ENOVIA Design Systems is considered an asset
• Knowledge and experience in Spacecraft systems is considered an asset
• Knowledge of standard documentation rules for drawing, at least UNI-ISO standards for drawings preparation (mainly ISO 2768-1 and ISO 2768-2)
• Ability to manage multiple tasks at one time and to work autonomously
• Team Working attitude
• High level of flexibility and ability to keep tight schedules
• High motivation, pro-active working approach and strong sense of responsibility
• Good knowledge of English in writing and speaking is considered an asset
