We launched our Zen Café in the heart of Tullamore Hospital earlier this year and are now seeking an energetic and experienced café manager to lead our team and elevate our standards.

As our Café Manager, you will spearhead the introduction of our exciting new menu offerings, featuring sourdough sandwiches, freshly made pastries, wholesome soups and salads, nutritious breakfasts, and an enticing smoothie bar selection. Reporting directly to the company's Catering Manager and supported by a dedicated supervisor, you will oversee a local team of approximately 10 individuals and manage all aspects of the café's day-to-day operations.

Responsibilities-Requirements and Skills

• Work experience as a Cafe Manager or previous experience in a supervisory role within the food and beverage industry, preferably in a cafe or restaurant setting
• Hands-on experience with professional coffee machines and café food preparation.
• Prior experience in managing a team essential
• Must have a passion for great coffee and nutritious food
• Interest and knowledge about nutrition & food trends (calories, sugar contents, fat, proteins etc.)
• Interest in food provenance
• Must love meeting people and delivering excellent customer service
• Managing daily operations of the Zen Cafe, ensuring smooth and efficient service to visitors, patients and staff members
• Sustainability Management (waste stream management, compostable/recyclable/general waste) Staff training & client awareness
• Co-ordinating with Catering management to drive coffee and sales standards
• Online ordering and managing stock and liaising with suppliers
• Preparation of displays/items for social media (previous experience an advantage)

Quality Management

• Collaborate with the café staff to implement standard operating procedures (SOPs) for various tasks, including food preparation, ordering supplies, and maintaining cleanliness.
• Train new cafe employees on company policies, procedures, and customer service expectations
• Carry out risk assessments when required
• Conduct regular inspections to ensure adherence to health and safety
• Excellent knowledge of HACCP: Adhering to HACCP and Food Safety requirements and upkeeping administration records (HCCP trained-level 3)
• Working with Quality Manager and Catering Manager to maintain HACCP system and SOPs
• Preparing and implementing Quality Improvement Plans following internal and external audits (EHO/Client/HSA) with the Catering Manager
• Assist the Catering Manager will the rollout of new menu developments
• Incident management reporting/customer complaints, liaising with local quality team

HR

• Recruitment
• Performance management of local team (annual reviews etc)
• Scheduling shifts and managing employee breaks to maintain optimal staffing levels. Management of clock ins. sick leave & absences on Timepoint only (cloud based system)
• Excellent customer service abilities, with a focus on creating a welcoming and positive experience for customers
• Liaising with HR administrator to conduct Garda vetting on new staff

Skills/Requirements

• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written (fluent English required)
• At least 2 years managing a team in a similar environment
• Strong in MS office (word, excel, ppt)
• Irish working visa essential
• Flexible to work up to 5 days over 7

What's on Offer:

€35k - €38k DOE

39 hrs working week

This is a full-time, permanent job with sociable working hours.
