Café In-Charge / Café Supervisor

Job Summary

The Café In-Charge is responsible for the smooth day-to-day operation of the café, including staff supervision, customer service, sales, inventory management, food safety, cleanliness, cash handling, and overall operational performance.

The role requires strong leadership, communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills to ensure that the café operates efficiently and provides a consistently high-quality customer experience.

Key Responsibilities1. Daily Café Operations

• Open and close the café according to company procedures.
• Ensure the café is ready for business before opening.
• Monitor daily operations and ensure smooth coordination between kitchen, service, cashier, and other staff.
• Ensure company policies, procedures, and service standards are followed.
• Handle operational issues and resolve them promptly.

2. Staff Management

• Supervise café employees and allocate daily duties and shifts.
• Monitor staff attendance, punctuality, grooming, and discipline.
• Train new employees on café procedures, customer service, hygiene, and safety.
• Monitor staff performance and provide regular feedback.
• Prepare or coordinate staff duty rosters.
• Ensure adequate staffing during peak business hours.

3. Customer Service

• Ensure customers receive friendly, efficient, and professional service.
• Handle customer complaints and resolve issues appropriately.
• Monitor food and beverage quality and presentation.
• Collect customer feedback and communicate recurring issues to management.
• Maintain a welcoming and professional café environment.

4. Sales & Cash Management

• Monitor daily sales and achieve assigned sales targets.
• Check cash/card/UPI transactions and ensure accurate billing.
• Verify cash at opening and closing.
• Monitor discounts, complimentary items, refunds, and void transactions.
• Prepare and submit daily sales and cash reports.
• Report any cash discrepancies to management immediately.

5. Inventory Management

• Monitor stock levels of food, beverages, packaging, and cleaning materials.
• Conduct regular physical stock counts.
• Maintain proper receiving and issuing procedures.
• Ensure FIFO/FEFO practices are followed where applicable.
• Monitor expiry dates and minimize food wastage.
• Prepare purchase/reorder requirements and submit them for approval.
• Investigate significant stock variances.

6. Food Safety & Hygiene

• Ensure food preparation and storage follow applicable food-safety requirements.
• Monitor personal hygiene and grooming standards of employees.
• Ensure refrigerators, storage areas, kitchen equipment, tables, counters, and washrooms are clean.
• Monitor temperature and storage conditions where required.
• Ensure expired or unsafe food is removed from use.
• Maintain required cleaning and hygiene records.

7. Cost & Wastage Control

• Monitor food and beverage consumption against standard recipes.
• Control unnecessary wastage, over-portioning, and spoilage.
• Maintain a wastage record.
• Identify unusual consumption or stock discrepancies.
• Support management in controlling food, labor, and operating costs.

8. Maintenance & Safety

• Check café equipment and facilities regularly.
• Report equipment breakdowns and maintenance requirements promptly.
• Ensure fire, electrical, and workplace safety procedures are followed.
• Maintain a safe working environment for employees and customers.

9. Reporting

Prepare or submit regular reports covering:

• Daily sales
• Cash reconciliation
• Staff attendance
• Inventory and stock variances
• Purchases
• Food wastage
• Customer complaints/feedback
• Maintenance issues
• Other operational incidents

Required Skills & Qualifications

• Previous experience in café, restaurant, hospitality, or food-service operations.
• Good leadership and team-management skills.
• Good communication and customer-service skills.
• Basic knowledge of inventory and cash management.
• Basic computer/Excel skills.
• Ability to work under pressure during busy periods.
• Strong attention to cleanliness, hygiene, and detail.
• Ability to work flexible shifts, weekends, and holidays as required.

Pay: ₹15,000.00 - ₹17,000.00 per month

Work Location: In person
