Job Details:

We are looking to fill four positions for our Creative Writing and Drama Using Tech Camp for March Break and/or Summer. We are interested in motivated and passionate Camp Counsellors who are willing to follow the Power of Words proprietary curriculum and materials; and who have experience working with children.

Our counsellors recognize the need of personal dedication to truly provide children with writing skills for life. Also, our counsellors recognize the importance of dialogue as a teaching technique by encouraging students to talk about their writing at every step of the writing process and present their completed pieces of work to the class. In addition, counsellors are responsible for providing students with feedback and helping them overcome writing frustration and public speaking fears.

Education, Qualification and Experience Requirements

• Education and experience in camp, youth programs, recreation, working with children, or in a related field
• Working towards teacher’s certification (OCT) an asset
• Excellent written, organization and interpersonal skills

Responsibilities

Our counsellors provide a nurturing environment, developing effective writing skills and confidence in public speaking in students and build strong relations with parents. Specifically, counsellors are responsible for:

• Effectively managing the classroom to maintain a safe and inspiring learning environment
• Supervises campers and ensures their safety, development, growth, skill achievement, and general well-being
• Organizes and leads various small and large group activities
• Ensures the cleanliness of the site.
• Knows, enforces, and follows all safety guidelines associated with the camp program, including always knowing the whereabouts of your campers
• Attend training and meetings as required

Locations | Camp Times Available

• Location: 230 The Donway West (Don Mills and Lawrence)
• March Break Camp from March 16th to March 20th | Monday to Friday 9:00AM-4:00PM.
• Summer Camp from July 6th to August 28th | Monday to Friday 9:00AM-4:00PM

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $20.00 per hour

Experience:

• Camp Counsellor: 1 year (preferred)

Work Location: In person
