Job Title: Cleaner/Maintenance Person
Location: Future Learning, Athlone, Co Westmeath
Reports to: Facilities Manager

Job Purpose

To ensure the school environment is clean, safe, and well maintained by carrying out daily cleaning duties, routine maintenance, and minor repairs.

Key Responsibilities

Cleaning Duties:

• Clean classrooms, offices, corridors, and communal areas.
• Clean and sanitise toilets, sinks, and washrooms daily.
• Empty bins and ensure rubbish is disposed of correctly.
• Wipe down and disinfect frequently touched surfaces (e.g., door handles, railings).
• Ensure cleaning supplies are used and stored safely.
• Maintaining classrooms’ sets up, supplies level, and cleaning equipment.

Maintenance Duties:

• Carry out minor repairs (e.g., fixing door handles, changing lightbulbs, unblocking drains).
• Monitor and maintain the school grounds, including sweeping pathways, clearing leaves, and tidying outdoor spaces.
• Report any damage, faults, or health and safety risks promptly to management.
• Support external contractors when required.
• Ensure equipment and tools are used and stored safely.

Skills & Experience Required

• Previous experience in cleaning, maintenance, or caretaking desirable.
• Practical skills in basic repairs and maintenance.
• Awareness of health and safety regulations. (Including ladders / manual handling)
• Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently.
• Good communication skills and a positive, flexible attitude.

Working Hours: Part Time approx 20 hours per week, afternoon 5PM onwards

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: €1,170.00 per month
