The Whitecap Dakota Nation (WDN) Capital Project Coordinator is responsible for supporting the planning, design, procurement, construction, and delivery of capital projects from initiation through completion. This role ensures that projects are executed safely, efficiently, within approved budgets, and in compliance with relevant provincial and federal regulations. The position coordinates internal staff, consultants, contractors, regulatory bodies, and—where applicable—First Nation governments to deliver high‑quality

KEY DUTIES

The employee may not be required to perform all duties listed and may be required to perform additional, position-specific duties. In accordance with standards of WDN and reporting to the WDN Director of Director of Public Works, the Capital Project Coordinator responsibilities include:

  • · Coordinate all phases of assigned capital projects, including project development, design, implementation, construction, inspection, and close-out.
  • · Develop and manage project scopes, budgets, schedules, and risk mitigation strategies.
  • · Coordinate with consultants, contractors, regulatory agencies, internal departments, and affected communities—including First Nation governments where required.
  • · Oversee documentation, reporting, and compliance with legislation, bylaws, and safety standards.
  • · Assist with preparing annual operating and capital budgets and ensure projects are completed within approved financial guidelines.
  • · Work with finance teams to track capital expenditures and contribute to long‑range capital planning and asset management strategies.
  • · Ensure adherence to provincial and federal statutes, building codes, environmental standards, and workplace safety regulations.
  • · Implement quality control processes and mechanisms that promote operational reliability, efficiency, and project cost certainty.
  • · Maintain effective communication with staff, consultants, contractors, partner governments, and community stakeholders.
  • · Prepare and deliver reports and presentations for Council, Boards, Committees, and external agencies.
  • · Lead and manage project teams, ensuring effective coordination, performance management, and adherence to organizational policies. This may be in conjunction with outside firms depending upon project scope.
  • · Support the development of policies, procedures, and best practices related to capital project delivery.
  • · Manage and maintain building/property condition records and support the development of asset management plans. adhere to all safety regulations, procedures, and safe work practices, including the successful completion of required Occupational Health & Safety (OH&S) training.
  • · Be an active member of the WDN Projects Management Team as required.
  • · Work with external Project Managers and Technical Consultants as required.

Pay: $65,000.00-$75,000.00 per year

Ability to commute/relocate:

  • Whitecap, SK: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)

Education:

  • Bachelor's Degree (required)

Experience:

  • Project Management: 2 years (required)

Language:

  • English (preferred)
