About the Role

As a Qualified cardiac physiology technician, you will work as part of a multi-disciplinary team in a tertiary hospital which is the electrophysiology and ICD centre for the South Island of New Zealand. You will be supported by an experienced and knowledgeable team to gain theoretical understanding and practical competency to complete your Cardiac Physiology Technician course and gain registration (if applicable), unless of course you are already qualified and experienced!

We have a full time opportunity for a qualified tech or someone who wishes to train to become a qualified cardiac physiology technician. This position will see you working 40 hours per week. The days and hours required for this position are Monday – Friday, between 0800 and 1630 (some earlier starts/finishes and some weekend work may be required).

In this role, you will be responsible for:

  • Developing practical competency/performing technical duties such as: electrocardiography, exercise tolerance testing, holter monitor application, and ambulatory blood pressure application
  • Cleaning, stocking and maintenance of equipment where required
  • Clerical duties where required
  • Completion of relevant coursework and examination (if applicable)

About You

We are ideally seeking an already qualified cardiac physiology technician who is looking to join our team in Christchurch. However if you meet the below requirements and are committed to completing the training we also would like to hear from you.

Your skills/experience will include:

  • NCEA level 2 Science, Maths & English
  • The ability to work within a multidisciplinary team, following the guidance of supervising staff and taking advantage of learning opportunities presented
  • Demonstrated organisational experience with effective prioritisation
  • A focus on professional development and education as well as a patient centric approach
  • Competency with te ao Māori, tikanga, and te reo Māori or a commitment to starting your journey and taking ownership of your learning and growth
  • A Bachelors degree in a related field is advantageous
