Job Summary

The Career Services Advisor supports the mission, goals, and objectives of the college and career services department. They are responsible for developing relationships with companies within relevant industries that result in placement opportunities for our graduates. Career Services key functions are to assist students to prepare for the workforce in their chosen career field and securing placement opportunities for students with internship. The Career Services Advisor will also be responsible for providing a high level of customer service to active students and graduates. This individual will achieve successful placement rates that exceed accreditation standards and be expected to meet advisor metrics.

Performance Outcomes

Student Success:

● Achieve 90% placement of your assigned graduates within 90 days of graduation

● Meet all accreditation goals for your assigned students

● Develop, implement, assess, and refine Career Readiness Workshops to engage and coach students early in their academic career

● Ensure students receive the most advanced career & workforce guidance to obtain the practical, productive, and soft skills to be successfully placed

●Identify internship opportunities to meet diploma requirements and professional licensure when applicable

●Proactively provide effective, confidential, individual assistance, and guidance to students in all phases of their career development

Staff:

● Promote, motivate, achieve, recognize, and openly acknowledge employee excellence by inspiring others with professionalism, emotional intelligence, effort, results, focus, and trust

Administrative:

● Ensure placement statistics, student interactions, new employer relationships, and current employer relationships are truthful, accurate, documented, reported, and kept current in real time – adding notes and updates as appropriate

● Employment accounts are seamlessly established, accurate, and maintained with key industry employment organizations

● Plan, develop, implement, facilitate, assess, and refine career-related programs and projects for faculty, students, and staff

● Participate in classroom Zoom meetings as needed and be flexible when these meetings might rarely occur outside your assigned working hours

● Participate in Open Houses and other student recruitment initiatives

Organizational:

● Ensure positive collaborative relationships are established and maintained with faculty, staff, students, alumni, employers, and professional organizations to sustain quality career development and planning programs at Bryan University

General Duties

● Support and abide by all rules, regulations, and guidelines of the university, serving as a role model for students and alumni at all times

● Carry out the mission of the Career Services Department

● Represent the Career Services department to students, faculty, program directors, senior officers, employers, and professional organizations

●Provide career counseling and job referrals to assist students with the career development process, including clarifying objectives and obtaining occupational information

● Provide career planning assistance through making Zoom and telephone appointments with students as well as providing online assistance, regularly scheduled group workshops, and live access to Zoom interaction with students and alumni

● Schedule, conduct, critique, and offer feedback on Mock Interviews for students to be better prepared for actual job interviews

● Help students develop and improve workforce readiness skills, communication, & professional etiquette skills to ensure they are able to represent the hiring company as needed

● Provide Career Services information to students in all Ignite sessions as well as regular classes when needed by Program Directors or Faculty

● Provide insights to students on the day-to-day working experience of professionals working in each of the Bryan College academic programs

●Establish and maintain effective and cooperative working relationships with students, alumni, faculty, employers, and the community at large

●Initiate contact with and regularly follow-up with employers to develop new job opportunities and sustain existing feeder relationships with those employers

●Assist students with the career development and planning process, including obtaining information on companies, job outlooks, current opportunities for employment, hiring practices, and making the transition from school to career

● Plan and implement virtual job fairs and inform students of ground-based career fairs related to their academic program and within reasonable driving distance from their home

● Distribute information to students on internships, apprenticeships, volunteerism, and summer job opportunities related to academic programs

● Maintain departmental student files in and ensure e-files are accurate, truthful, and current reflecting up to date activities and conversations - no bulk uploading, and must be done in real time

●Maintain, update, and stay current on Insightly and Bryan University Career Connection, the online recruitment system and proactively make suggestions to maintain/update the career services website, and LinkedIn profile

● Promote Career Services to students, alumni, and employers through a variety of marketing efforts

● Prepare & disseminate regular reports and updates

● Collect and analyze research data relevant to the career planning and placement of students and alumni

● Monitor and identify emerging occupational specialties related to Bryan College programs, with a keen eye on those opportunities that expand opportunities for Bryan graduates

● Document all interactions with students and alumni, including details that can be readily understood by others unfamiliar with the student, including the date, time, and time zone at which the activity occurred.

Physical Demands/Work Environment

● Ability to work onsite M-F with a variety of computer programs including but not limited to Google Workspace (computing, productivity, & collaboration tools, software, and products), Canvas, Microsoft Office, Bria, Zoom, CampusNexus and others

● Ability to sit for six to eight hours

● Ability to work outside standard office hours on rare occasions when needed

Minimum Qualifications

● Bachelor’s Degree required

● 2+ years professional experience in career services along with the ability to show demonstrated knowledge of the career development profession including procedures and processes

●Ability to demonstrate working experience in Career Services & SIS related technologies

● Previous Career Services experience in for-profit education highly preferred

●Demonstrate working knowledge of Google Workspace (including Gmail, Drive, Docs, Sheets, and Meet); and MS Office Suite applications including Excel, Word, & PowerPoint

● Proven track record increasing the rate of placements

● Strong Zoom, presentation, telephone, webinar, and organizational skills required

●Must demonstrate the proven ability to write and develop professional emails, reports, summaries, marketing flyers, podcasts, text messages, and department updates free of colloquialisms, slang, and unprofessional structure of communication

●Must demonstrate a team mindset with the ability to work in a collegial and collaborative environment

● Must demonstrate experience creating programs from ideation through inception, roll-out, and refinement. Specific examples must be provided

● Must be able to work on-site at Bryan College campus location

Additional Preferred Qualifications

●Previous experience working in Career Services at a for-profit higher education institution with the ability to discuss the intricacies of for-profit education and required accreditation placement requirements. Additional experience at nonprofit institutions is welcome.

●Ability to develop, plan, implement, assess, and refine projects; programs; and processes designed to improve departmental efficiency; student retention; and the advancement of students along the Career Services continuum

● Must know how to develop, write scripts for, record, implement, post, assess usage, refine, and delete online educational webinars and podcasts

●Candidates must possess meticulous attention to detail to ensure accuracy, efficiency, and compliance with established procedures

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $24.00-$26.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
