About The Position

Location: Port Augusta

Status: Full Time

The Advancing Families and Communities (AFC) project aims to change the trajectory of intergenerational low educational achievement and unemployment in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families.

As the Case Manager - Advancing Families and Communities, you will work with families to increase educational outcomes and decrease barriers with the clients’ participation. You will achieve this by using a strengths-based and child aware approach to address barriers to attending wellbeing services, early childhood programs, education, school, post school qualifications and employment.

Skills and Experiences:
You will:
  • Work directly with Aboriginal families to increase engagement in education and training.
  • Deliver educational and interactive workshops where necessary.
  • Engage positively with Aboriginal people and deliver culturally appropriate and respectful services.
  • Understand intergenerational trauma, grief and loss amongst Aboriginal people.
  • Work professionally and collaboratively with other services to achieve positive outcomes for each participant.
  • Be able to demonstrate previous experience working with Aboriginal people.
It is essential for you to have:
  • Current Australian Drivers Licence.
  • Certificate IV (4) or above in a Human Services related field e.g. Community Services, Case Management, Disability, Mental Health, Youth Work etc.
  • Relevant experience, in a paid or voluntary capacity.
We also recognise that people come with their own story, life experience, knowledge and expertise and this position requires applicants to have a genuine desire to work with and support Aboriginal Communities.

You may also need to be available for some out of hours work and travel between Uniting Country SA sites or interstate as required.
