The Event/Casual Security Guard is responsible for ensuring the safety and security of the event site, attendees, staff, vendors, and performers throughout the duration of the event. This role requires strong situational awareness, quick response to incidents, and proactive crowd management to prevent disturbances, unauthorized access, or safety risks. Event Security Guards often work in dynamic, fast-paced environments and must remain alert, professional, and approachable at all times.

Key Responsibilities:

Crowd Management & Patrols:

• Monitor crowd behavior to ensure a safe and orderly environment.
• Conduct regular patrols of the event site, including entrances, exits, restricted zones, and high-traffic areas.
• Identify and address potential safety hazards or disturbances before they escalate.

Access Control:

• Control entry and exit points, including checking tickets, credentials, and identification.
• Ensure only authorized individuals access restricted or backstage areas.
• Manage guest flow to prevent overcrowding and maintain compliance with capacity limits.

Surveillance & Monitoring:

• Observe activities across the event site to detect suspicious behavior or potential threats.
• Work alongside event staff and use available security systems (if applicable) to maintain situational awareness.

Emergency Response:

• Respond promptly to emergencies such as medical incidents, altercations, or evacuations.
• Coordinate with event organizers, emergency services, and law enforcement when required.
• Assist in evacuations and crowd control during emergency situations.

Incident Reporting:

• Document all incidents, disturbances, or safety concerns in detailed reports.
• Maintain accurate logs of activities, patrols, and actions taken during the event.
• Report issues to supervisors and event management for follow-up.

Safety & Compliance:

• Ensure compliance with event safety regulations and procedures.
• Monitor fire exits, emergency access routes, and safety equipment to ensure they remain unobstructed.

Customer Service:

• Provide assistance and directions to attendees, vendors, and staff in a professional and courteous manner.
• De-escalate conflicts and handle complaints calmly and effectively.
• Act as a visible and approachable presence to enhance guest experience while maintaining security.

Job Types: Part-time, Casual

Pay: $18.00-$22.00 per hour

Education:

• Secondary School (preferred)

Licence/Certification:

• Security Guard Licence (required)
• AST (preferred)
