Clinical Lead – Youth Access Team

The Clinical Lead, working in partnership with the headspace Manager, provides expert clinical and operational leadership, guidance, and supervision to Youth Access Team staff. The role is responsible for fostering a high-performing, collaborative team environment and supporting the delivery of safe, effective, and youth-focused mental health services.

About the Opportunity

The Clinical Lead plays a key role in developing and maintaining strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders. This includes providing clinical consultation and advice to staff and managers across mental health and general health services, as well as relevant community and external agencies, to facilitate integrated care and ensure seamless pathways for young people accessing support across service systems.

The position is accountable for ensuring that the Youth Access Team operates in accordance with professional standards, organisational policies and procedures, and legislative and regulatory requirements. This includes oversight of clinical governance processes, risk management, incident reporting, and mandatory notifications to promote quality and safe service delivery.

In addition to leadership responsibilities, the Clinical Lead will provide direct clinical care to young people aged 12–25 years who are experiencing mental health concerns and accessing services through the headspace centres at Gosford and Lake Haven.

The Clinical Lead will also undertake direct clinical work with young people aged 12-25 years experiencing mental health problems and accessing the headspace centres at Gosford and Lake Haven.

This position operates across both headspace Gosford and headspace Lake Haven, with the successful applicant rotating between sites as required.

This role is suitable for the following:

  • Senior Psychologist
  • Occupational Therapist level 4
  • Counsellor Level 4
  • Social Worker Level 4
  • Nurse Manager Grade 2

Employees appointed at the Senior Psychologist level shall satisfy the criteria for the Psychologist classification and have completed a minimum of one year at the 9th year of service and thereafter point on the salary scale for Psychologist.

About You

You will bring a strong commitment to high-quality community care and a passion for helping people. You will have:

  • Tertiary qualifications in mental health related discipline: Social Worker eligible for membership of AASW; Occupational Therapist (Health Professional Level 4); Registered Nurse (Nurse Manager Level 2); Registered Senior Psychologist Yr. 1-3.
  • Extensive experience as a clinician in the provision of mental health, child & adolescent mental health and/or drug & alcohol services.
  • Demonstrated partnership building and negotiation skills with a broad range of service providers e.g. FACS, NGOs other health service Departments.
  • Experience taking a lead role in service development planning and quality improvement including documenting the process, report writing and evaluation of activities/initiatives.
  • Current driver's licence and willingness to travel to other locations within District.
