Microsoft’s Cloud Operations & Innovation (CO+I) is the engine that powers our cloud services. As a CO+I FSE, you will perform a key role in delivering the core infrastructure and foundational technologies for Microsoft's online services including Bing, Office 365, Xbox, OneDrive, and the Microsoft Azure platform. Responsibilities
- Oversee the daily operation and maintenance of mechanical and electrical systems within the data center, ensuring effective planning, coordination, and execution of preventative and corrective maintenance programmes.
- Ensure the uptime and reliability of critical environment systems through proactive monitoring, maintenance oversight, and risk mitigation.
- Lead operational excellence by executing and governing key processes, including maintenance procedures, incident reviews (root cause analyses), and change management.
- Drive safety and compliance by adhering to Microsoft standards and addressing risks or incidents immediately.
- Partner cross-functionally with engineering teams, vendors, and landlord partners to optimise data center performance and resolve issues.
- Identify and reduce risk, minimising human error and high-impact incidents year over year.
- Support emergency-response readiness, acting as an escalation point for facilities-related incidents.
- Deliver efficiency outcomes by advancing cost-optimisation and energy-efficiency initiatives, and support data-driven operations through the accurate measurement and reporting of key metrics, including power, temperature, and service-level agreement (SLA) performance.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
High School Diploma or equivalent AND relevant industry experience in a data center or other critical environment facility.
Relevant experience in a specialised area (e.g., mechanical, electrical, or controls) or a related field.
You will be required to travel between sites as part of this role so a valid driver’s license will be required.
- This role requires you to be on-site, and the location has limited public transport. Your own form of transport is advised.
Background Check Requirements:
Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:
- Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
While not required, we also look for the following Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in Critical Environment infrastructures (e.g., UPS, Generator, AHU)
Degree OR certification in mechanical or electrical engineering and/or services
Experience working on large scale CE projects
Data Center Operations Management IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across Finland is € 65,000.00 - € 111,700.00 per year. Certain roles may be eligible for benefits and other compensation.
