The positions are for a Community Employment Scheme in Galway City.
To qualify for a CE Scheme you generally must be aged between 21-55 and be unemployed for 12 months AND you must also be in receipt of a qualifying Social Welfare Payment during that time, or 9 months if Ukrainian. You may also be eligible if you are a Qualified Adult on Jobseeker’s Allowance.
This is a developmental opportunity, no experience necessary. Accredited training will be provided to support your career.

General duties
- Getting familiar with organisation’s policies and procedures, data protection guidelines and Health and Safety Statement
- Learning about the Youth Work Ireland Galway mission, activities, projects and programmes
- Maintaining confidentiality about the young persons’ and employees’ personal and other sensitive information
- Keeping work areas safe according to the requirements of Youth Work Ireland Galway Health and Safety Statement and policy
- Attending mandatory and job related trainings
- Ensuring the organisation’s resources are used judiciously and avoiding resource wastage
- Ensuring the time sheets are filled daily
Clerk Typist Responsibilities & Duties
- Prepare and type correspondence, reports, and other documents.
- Maintain and organize files and records.
- Perform general clerical duties such as photocopying and scanning.
- Review and proofread documents for accuracy and completeness.
- Prepare and distribute memos and announcements.
- Communicate with staff members to gather information.
- Ability to handle confidential information with discretion and maintain a high level of professional integrity at all times.
Administrative Assistant duties
- Answering phones, taking messages and dealing appropriately with queries.
- Dealing with queries by email and in person.
- Preparing correspondence, receiving visitors and sharing information and support with members and potential members of GAP, employees and stakeholders.
Other duties
- Shredding and recycling
- Meeting and greeting visitors cordially and professionally, answering their queries and providing visitors with information about the organisation and its activities
- Performing other relevant work duties as necessary
Necessary skills
- Confidentiality and courtesy in dealing with young people, staff, volunteers and visitors
- Basic IT skills – internet, e-mail, file management, copying, scanning, printing
- Basic Word processing, Excel and typing
- An awareness and sensitivity to the abilities and needs of children, young people and vulnerable adults
Other requirements: Garda vetting is required for this position.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: From €286.50 per year
