Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced, passionate and efficient Chef to join our team and lead culinary operations in our kitchen.

CEFA Okotoks - D'arcy Crossing is a private child care centre that provides full day educational programming and care for up to 152 children ages 1-6 years old. As the chef, you would prepare breakfast / morning snack, lunch and afternoon snack each day, following our premade menu, alongside a kitchen assistant.

The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in food preparation, cooking, and kitchen management, with a strong focus on food safety, managing dietary restrictions / allergies and quality.

Duties

• Prepare, cook and serve a variety of dishes according to CEFA standards and recipes
• Adapting menu items as needed for children's dietary / allergy restrictions
• Maintaining accurate records and documentation as per internal and AHS requirements
• Maintain a clean and organized work environment
• Manage food handling procedures to ensure food safety standards are always met
• Clean dishes, surfaces and kitchen equipment as per requirements
• Maintain inventory levels, purchase supplies and record expenses
• Collaborate with school's management to develop new menu items and improve existing offerings
• Maintain open and effective communication with staff team

• Proficient in health and food safety
• Excellent time management skills and ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
• Experience managing inventory while adhering to budgets
• Excellent team management, communication and leadership abilities
• In-depth knowledge of food safety standards and regulations
• Exceptional communication skills for effective team collaboration

Requirements / Qualifications

• Culinary Institute Graduate, Red Seal are greatly appreciated but not necessarily required
• At least 2 years chef experience with a Valid Food Handler Certification
• Valid Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Check
• Excellent written and spoken English

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: $24.00-$28.00 per hour

Expected hours: 37.5 per week
