Cellar Assistant

We are currently recruiting for a Cellar/Warehouse Assistant who can assist with the daily upkeep of our stores and assist with taking in weekly orders. This position entails weekend work and has a start time of 7 am each morning, with daytime hours typically ending between 2 pm and 3 pm. This is between 4 & 5 days a week.

The working week can also be topped up with bar work if interested.

Please note, this position can not consider overseas applications.

About The Church

The Church Bar & Restaurant is a 300-year-old listed building operating as a bar, restaurant, and tourist attraction.

The business consists of three locations:

  • The Church building
  • Storage facilities on Wolfe Tone Street
  • Staff changing facilities at 64 Mary Street

Cellar Assistant Duties

General Duties (Daily)

  • Receive and check deliveries, ensuring goods are in good condition. Record any shortages or damages where necessary.
  • Accurately record all deliveries using Procure Wizard software.
  • Restock bars as required, including:
  • Main Bar
  • Gallery Bar
  • Cellar Bar
  • 1701 Bar / Tower Bar
  • Check and replenish chemical and cleaning supplies as required. This must be completed at least twice weekly (Tuesday and Sunday) using the spreadsheet provided on the cellar tablet.
  • Monitor and maintain the cold room.
  • Check splash cylinders and replace when required.
  • Check beer gas systems daily and replace empty cylinders.
  • Keep all storage areas and bars clean and tidy.
  • Clean and maintain ice machines and update cleaning records.
  • Carry out general maintenance and cleaning throughout The Church buildings and surrounding areas.
  • Complete tasks as directed by management.
  • Waste Management
  • Opening of the building and other buildings within the workplace.
  • Restock bars using stock sheets completed by bar staff the previous evening.
  • Remove glass bins.
  • Maintain the cold room, remove FOB waste as required, and keep bottle stores organised.
  • Sweep and tidy the outside lane, ensuring clear access is maintained at all times.
  • Sweep and wash floors as required.
  • Complete fire safety checks.
  • Carry out light maintenance duties, including changing bulbs, painting, gardening, and other minor repairs.

Manual Handling

  • A Manual Handling course must be completed annually.
  • Always use safe lifting techniques.
  • PPE must be worn when appropriate, including:
  • Safety shoes
  • Protective gloves

The Cellar Assistant reports to:

  • General Manager
  • Assistant Managers
  • Cellar Managers
  • Duty Managers
  • Head Chef
