Position: Centre Nutrition Specialist (Temporary Full-Time Position, covering a leave of absence)
Location: London, Ontario
Schedule: 35 hours per week, Monday-Friday
Start Date: Immediately to Septemer 18, 2026

Position Summary
In your role as a Centre Nutrition Specialist, you will be responsible for preparing and delivering fresh, nutritious morning snack, lunch, and afternoon snack for children between the ages of 0-5. You will consider diverse dietary needs and allergies in your meal preparation, while also upholding cleanliness and sanitation standards in the kitchen. You will also oversee monitoring of food inventory levels while maintaining a pre-approved budget. You will actively contribute to team discussions and curriculum planning to strengthen children’s understanding of food.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and deliver quality, nutritious snacks and lunch for up to 129 children, utilizing fresh and wholesome ingredients
- Perform daily cleaning duties and sanitization of the kitchen, as well as hand washing all dishes
- Ensure food inventory levels are maintained by ordering from suppliers while maintaining a pre-approved budget
- Move equipment weighing up to 50 pounds, remain in a stationary position during the shift
- Demonstrate effective multi-tasking skills and move at a pace that meets established timelines
- Comprehend and adhere to the Child Care and Early Years Act (CCEYA), public health and safety guidelines, and London Bridge policies and procedures
- Perform a range of administrative functions, such as maintaining daily charts and logs as required daily
- Prepare meals that meet daily nutritional and/or dietary requirements for all children, including those with diverse needs at the centre
- Live into London Bridge’s commitment to lifelong learning by participating in professional development, centre team meetings, and collaborating with colleagues and community partners
Qualifications
- Completing or obtained diploma in Culinary Management or Food and Nutrition preferred, or other post-secondary education paired with experience
- Current Food Handlers Certificate
- Knowledge of Canada’s Food Guide and nutritional needs of children
- Excellent time management skills
- Strong communication and decision-making skills
- Experience in cooking and baking for large groups of people
- Flexible and adaptive to the dietary needs of the centre
- Self-motivated, creative, ability to build positive working relationships with children, educators, suppliers, families and liaisons
