Job Title: Energy Auditor

Department: Field Services

Reports To: Philadelphia Field Operations Manager

Job Type: Full-time, Non-Exempt

Position Summary: The Energy Auditor conducts in-home energy assessments and energy audits to identify energy inefficiencies and recommend energy-saving improvements. Auditors inspect homes, conduct diagnostic testing, and communicate findings to customers, playing a vital role in reducing energy consumption and enhancing home comfort.

Key Responsibilities:

Field Assessment/Audit

Conduct home energy audits including blower door and combustion safety tests.

Inspect HVAC systems, attics, basements, crawlspaces, and all other areas of a home.

Assess thermal envelope conditions and document findings.

Ability to apply building science principals to audit findings to recommend energy-saving upgrades.

Client Interaction & Education

Explain the audit process and energy-saving opportunities to homeowners.

Install basic measures such as carbon monoxide alarms, thermostats, and faucet aerators.

Identify health and safety risks and educate customers on findings.

Documentation & Compliance

Ensure accurate, complete paperwork for each audit.

Upload photos and documents to customer folders.

Equipment & Coordination

Maintain calibration and functionality of audit tools.

Confirm jobs 3 days prior and ensure timely field completion.

Support compliance with utility and internal standards.

Qualifications:

Valid driver’s license with reliable transportation.

BPI Building Analyst-Technician certification or ability to become certified within the first 3 months of employment.

Strong communication and customer service skills.

Proficient use of a tablet for field data collection.

Ability to work in all weather conditions.

Ability to work in confined spaces, such as attics and crawlspaces.

Able to lift 50 lbs., climb ladders, and work in deteriorated homes.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $55,000.00 - $65,000.00 per year

  • Performing Energy Audits: 1 year (Required)

License/Certification:

  • OSHA 10 (Preferred)
  • BPI Certification (Required)

Willingness to travel:

  • 75% (Preferred)
