Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) to join our dynamic healthcare team. The ideal candidate will bring experience from urgent care, hospital medicine, internal medicine, and/or specialty care such as endocrinology. This role is vital in delivering high-quality, patient-centered care in a fast-paced environment. A strong understanding of medical terminology and a collaborative mindset are essential, especially when working with multidisciplinary teams, geriatrics, and inpatient settings.
Key Responsibilities Clinical Duties:
- Assist healthcare providers with patient examinations, in-office procedures, and treatments.
- Room patients: take and record vital signs, obtain medical histories, and prepare patients for exams.
- Administer medications and injections as directed by the provider.
- Perform point-of-care testing (e.g., blood glucose, A1C).
- Support chronic disease management (e.g., diabetes education, insulin and CGM training, thyroid follow-ups).
- Maintain clean and well-stocked exam rooms and clinical areas.
- Assist with infection control procedures and sterilization of medical equipment.
Administrative Duties:
- Document all clinical interactions accurately in the electronic health record (EHR). (Experience with AthenaHealth is a plus)
- Manage prescription refill requests and prior authorizations under provider guidance.
- Coordinate referrals and ensure follow-through with external providers.
- Communicate test results and follow-up instructions to patients.
- Schedule follow-up appointments, labs, and imaging as needed.
- Answer patient phone calls and respond to messages in a timely, professional manner.
- Verify insurance and support front desk or billing teams when help is needed.
Qualifications
- Experience in urgent care, hospital medicine, internal medicine, geriatrics, endocrinology, or settings is highly preferred.
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology and clinical procedures.
- Proficient in using EHR systems for documentation and scheduling.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with a compassionate approach to patient care.
- Ability to multitask, prioritize, and remain detail-oriented in a fast-paced clinical environment.
- Familiarity with inpatient and outpatient care protocols is a plus.
Pay: $15.00 - $18.00 per hour
