Description:
The Chaplin role is to support the Narnia staff through a pastoral means. To be a stable supportive
person who can provide prayer, referrals and care. To build relationship, build community and
support the wellbeing of staff. This includes but is not limited to:
- Providing pastoral care to the staff of each Early Learning Centre.
- Intentionally build relationships with staff.
- Upholding and supporting the philosophy, mission, core values, vision, policies and aims of Narnia Early Learning and the wider St Philip’s organisation.
- Visit each centre once a term, extra visits as required by the Executive Director.
- Work in a safe, confidential and supportive manner.
- Create/source documents on key areas of support.
- Complete designated administrative tasks.
- Provide information of external support services to staff.
- Support/enhance a positive workplace culture.
- Send at least monthly devotion/links/written communication to all Narnia staff.
- Provide Termly report to Executive Director of Narnia Early Learning.
- Attend extra staff development days/events
- To uphold the vision of the Centre;
- To support Biblical values;
- To teach Biblical truths;
- To be an active member of a Christian church;
- To seek regular Christian teaching and fellowship;
- To pray;
- To handle Narnia matters with total confidentiality at all times;
- To display the fruit of the Spirit in one’s daily life as described in Galatians 5:22-23;
- To participate in regular staff evaluation which examines personal, spiritual and professional development.
- Work within the Code of Conduct the Service philosophy, policies and procedures;
- Actively participate in performance appraisal process;
- Engage in reflective practice and ongoing professional learning;
- Undertake Child Protection training at intervals decided by (see responsible to).
- In respect of Organisational Staff Representation and Narnia
- Actively support the organisation’s philosophy, policies and procedures and positively represent the organisation to external contacts at all opportunities;
- To be aware of and uphold St Philip’s Christian College vision, mission, core values and beliefs;
- To uphold Narnia Early Learning values, vision and philosophy;
- To work both individually and in collaboration;
- To uphold and implement all centre policies and procedures;
- To work within a confidential manner.
- Work in a manner that does not pose a risk to self or others;
- Ensure a safe and healthy work environment;
- Act immediately on any safety issues that relate to the working environment of the Service;
- Follow Service policies regarding child protection and child safe standards –
- Inform the Nominated Supervisor of any allegations or conviction of a child protection
- Ensure compliance as a mandated reporter.
- Follow Service guidelines in providing a safe environment for children and staff;
- Ensure the Service’s duty of care to children and their families is strictly maintained;
Essential Skills
- Minimum cert IV in Chaplaincy and Pastoral Care.
- A strong foundation in, and ongoing commitment to, the Christian Faith.
- Effective written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Current Working with Children Check
- A Current Police Check
- Own transport
- Degree in Theology
- Previous experience in a ministry/pastoral role.
No job description can capture the complexity of working within an Early learning Centre. Thereforethis job will include such other duties as may be required by the Executive Director of Narnia Early, Learning. Job descriptions will need to be reviewed from time-to- time in order to ensure they remain relevant in a rapidly changing world.
We will partner with you to support your performance and ongoing development to ensure you are fully prepared for future challenges as this position and our organisation adapts and grows. This position is Part time commencing at the beginning of 2025. The current hours of work are Monday 7:30am – 2pm.
