Clontarf Hospital, a voluntary charitable healthcare organisation renowned for delivering interdisciplinary rehabilitation services, is seeking an exceptional leader to serve as its Chief Executive Officer. Situated in Dublin North, the hospital plays a pivotal role in Ireland's healthcare system, with strong partnerships with local acute hospitals and alignment with Sláintecare and National Healthcare Policy.

About the Role

As CEO, you will:

  • Report to the Chairperson and the Board of Governors, holding accountability for the hospital’s strategic direction and operational excellence.
  • Lead a skilled workforce to deliver innovative, patient-centered care, fostering values of integrity, trust, mutual respect and sustainability.
  • Oversee the hospital’s daily operations, ensuring alignment with its mission and integration with national healthcare policies, particularly in older people, trauma, orthopedic, and rehabilitation services.
  • Drive strategic initiatives and service developments to position Clontarf Hospital as a “Centre of Excellence” in rehabilitation.

Key Responsibilities

Governance

  • Lead overall management and operation of the hospital, ensuring efficiency and alignment with strategic objectives.
  • Foster the hospital's patient-centered ethos, supporting excellence in medical and clinical practices, rehabilitation, and education.
  • Provide strategic advice and direction to the Board, aiding in policy and operational plan development.
  • Serve as the Company Secretary, ensuring compliance with the Charity Regulator and relevant legislation.
  • Support the Board in fulfilling its governance duties, including risk management, health and safety, and resource management.

Executive Management

  • Oversee all operational aspects, including Finance, HR, Quality & Safety, Health & Safety, ICT, and Maintenance.
  • Plan and evaluate services based on healthcare trends, patient needs, and HIQA standards.
  • Manage the hospital’s budget and ensure alignment with HSE allocations.
  • Have oversight of the hospital's ICT strategy, developing a robust infrastructure and working towards creating a SMART hospital environment.
  • Promote a culture of staff wellbeing and continuous professional development, ensuring Clontarf remains an employer of choice.

Operational Excellence

  • Implement strategic and operational goals across departments, ensuring compliance with HSE regulations and hospital policies.
  • Establish efficient systems for financial control, service delivery, and reporting to the Board.

Develop partnerships and manage contracts, service agreements, and insurance policies.

Eligibility Criteria

Essential Qualifications

  • Education: Level 8/9 qualification in management or a related discipline.
  • Experience:
    • At least five years in senior healthcare management.
    • Demonstrated leadership in a hospital setting, including leading multidisciplinary teams.

Desirable Qualifications

  • Post-graduate qualification in a relevant field.
  • Experience with ICT project development.
  • Strong knowledge of clinical and corporate services.
