Te Whiwhinga Mahi | Our opportunity

We are seeking an experienced senior executive to join our Executive Leadership Team as Chief Financial Officer. In this pivotal role, you will be accountable for ensuing the financial health and sustainability of K inga Ora. By providing financial stewardship and strategic leadership you will ensure K inga Ora operates with transparency, integrity, and commercial discipline.

As a trusted advisor to the Chief Executive and Board, you will provide both technical and strategic advice. You will be responsible for leading enterprise-wide financial strategy, fiscal governance, strategic planning, investment assurance, and public accountability. You will also lead our engagement with Treasury, the Ministry of Housing and Urban Development, and key public sector partners on all matters of financial performance, investment and economic sustainability.

This is a key role in the transformation program for K inga Ora and requires an influential and results-driven executive who, through a commercial lens, can champion enterprise-wide change.

With responsibility for a team of professionals across finance, procurement, policy, and strategic planning, this role offers you the opportunity to lead one of the most complex and high-impact finance portfolios in the public sector - where your influence will directly shape the future of housing and infrastructure investment in Aotearoa.

Ng pumanawatanga ou - What you will bring

  • Extensive experience in senior finance leadership roles within large and complex organisations
  • Demonstrated ability to lead through a strategic and commercial lens, with strong fiscal discipline
  • Proven success in overseeing investment management, financial strategy and enterprise planning
  • In-depth understanding of private and public sector governance, accountability, and Crown financial expectations
  • Sharp commercial acumen with an ability to balance service delivery with long-term sustainability
  • Demonstrated ability to develop highly effective mutually beneficial and collaborative partnerships internally and externally
  • Understanding of partnership obligations under Te Tiriti o Waitangi
  • Qualifications relevant to the role, and preferably, membership of a professional accounting body as a Chartered Accountant.
