We are currently seeking an experienced professional to join our team in the role of Chief Operating Officer, HSBC Life Singapore.
The role holder will be a member of the HSBC Life Singapore Executive Committee, reporting to the Chief Executive Officer.
Principal responsibilities
- As a key member of the HSBC Life Singapore leadership team, partner with the CEO and the Exco to shape and implement the company’s multi-year growth and transformation agenda.
- Lead end to end life, health and general insurance operations including new business, underwriting, policy administration, claims, contact centre, customer relations and complaints, controls, investment operations and business transformation.
- Drive process simplification, automation, digitisation and straight through processing to enhance operational efficiency and customer as well as distributor experience.
- Embed Lean, Agile or Continuous Improvement practices to foster a culture of operational excellence.
- Ensure all operational processes are compliant with regulatory requirements, HSBC Group policies and internal control frameworks.
- Lead business continuity planning and operational resilience efforts including cyber, fraud and outsourcing risk management.
- Champion the adoption of digital tools and platforms across the operations value chain.
- Collaborate with Technology and Data teams to drive automation, analytics and operational scalability.
- Actively engage with the senior key stakeholders within Global Insurance, Global IWPB management and HSBC Singapore to drive collaboration initiatives.
- Attend the Board, Audit and Risk Committee meetings and the key HSBC Life Singapore governance forums including the Exco and RMM meetings.
- The role holder deputizes for the HSBC Life Singapore CEO, where required.
Requirements
- Extensive years of experience in life insurance or financial services with operational leadership roles in Singapore or Asia.
- Proven track record of operational transformation delivery.
- Ability to navigate a matrix organisation and operate with pace to deliver results in an integration/transformation environment.
- Calm under pressure, adapatable, and resilient in managing ambiguity.
- Familiarity with local regulations and industry standards relevant to Life and Health operations.
- Dynamic leader, with extensive leadership experience at the Executive level with a strong ability to innovate and find solutions.
- Ability to identify, manage and mitigate operational risk effectively
- Progressive leadership and communication skills, ability to lead change, influence and actively drive performance.
- Exposure to agency and bancassurance models.
- Self-motivated, driven to succeed and experience in leading high performing teams.
- High level of personal integrity and values in line with HSBC core values.
- Strong P&L experience with proven record in managing cross-functional teams.
