Assistant Teacher / Support Staff

At Treehouse Academy, our Assistant Teachers are an important part of creating the calm, warm, engaging environment we want for our children each day. This role works closely with Lead Teachers to support classroom routines, curriculum, documentation, and the overall needs of the children.

Responsibilities

• Support Lead Teachers throughout the daily classroom schedule and activities.
• Help maintain a calm, positive, and respectful classroom environment.
• Engage with children through play, conversation, art, sensory experiences, outdoor play, and classroom activities.
• Assist Lead Teachers with preparing and carrying out lessons and activities.
• Help with classroom transitions, meals, snacks, toileting, rest time, outdoor time, and daily routines.
• Take thoughtful photos throughout the day that show children learning, exploring, creating, and engaging with their environment.
• Complete daily tracking and documentation, including meals, snacks, toileting/diapers, rest, activities, and other required updates.
• Help ensure families receive consistent and meaningful updates about their child's day.
• Support classroom organization, cleaning, sanitizing, and resetting materials throughout the day.
• Supervise children closely and maintain all health and safety expectations.
• Use calm voices, positive language, redirection, and developmentally appropriate guidance when supporting children's behavior.
• Communicate with Lead Teachers about children's needs, classroom concerns, and important observations.
• Step in wherever support is needed while respecting the Lead Teacher's role in guiding the classroom.
• Receive feedback openly and participate in ongoing coaching and professional development.
• Build warm, trusting relationships with children, families, and fellow staff members.

We are looking for someone who is warm, patient, dependable, engaged, and eager to learn. Our ideal Assistant Teacher understands that young children are still learning how to communicate, regulate their emotions, and exist within a classroom community.

You do not need to know everything on day one. We value someone who is coachable, genuinely enjoys being with children, works well as part of a team, and wants to continue growing as an early childhood educator.

At Treehouse, we believe the adults set the tone of the classroom. We expect our teachers to lead with calmness, consistency, connection, and respect while still maintaining clear and appropriate boundaries for children.

Pay: $16.00 - $18.00 per hour
