About Us
Mele Arts is an established art education centre operating since 2017. We provide small-group art classes for children and teenagers, combining structured technical training with creative freedom.
We are now looking for a skilled and passionate Art Teacher to join our teaching team and support students aged 5–18 in developing strong artistic foundations, visual expression and creative confidence.
The Role
We are seeking an Art Teacher with strong traditional art skills and the ability to teach children and teenagers in a clear, engaging and age-appropriate way.
The ideal candidate should be confident in one or more traditional art mediums, such as acrylic, watercolour, oil pastel, markers, coloured pencils, sketching or mixed media.
Candidates with strong skills in anime character design, manga-style illustration, visual storytelling, comic panel design or storyboard design will be highly regarded.
Key Responsibilities
- Teach engaging small-group art lessons to students aged 5–18
- Deliver traditional art classes using mediums aligned with your strengths, such as acrylic, watercolour, oil pastel, markers, coloured pencils, sketching or mixed media
- Prepare simple, clear and age-appropriate lesson plans
- Guide students individually and help them improve their technique, creativity and confidence
- Support students in developing finished artworks, portfolios, exhibitions and art showcases
- Maintain a positive, structured and encouraging classroom environment
- Communicate professionally with students, parents and the admin team when required
Requirements
- Strong technical skills in one or more traditional art mediums
- Teaching experience with children or teenagers is required
- Ability to manage a small class independently
- Good communication skills and strong classroom presence
- Passion for art education and working with young learners
- Working With Children Check, or willingness to obtain one before starting
Education Background
Applicants should have a relevant qualification in Fine Arts, Visual Arts, Design, Animation, Illustration, Screen / Media, Communication Design, Digital Art or a related creative field.
Graduates from well-regarded universities or recognised art and design institutions in a relevant discipline will be highly regarded.
Relevant backgrounds may include, but are not limited to:

- Screen and Media
- Digital Art
- Storyboarding
- Design or other related creative disciplines
Preferred Skills
Priority will be given to applicants who have strong experience or portfolio work in one or more of the following areas:
- Anime or manga-style character design
- Original character creation
- Storyboard design
- Comic panel composition
- Illustration for children or teenagers
- Visual storytelling
- Portfolio preparation
- Digital illustration supported by strong traditional art foundations
Applicants with a strong academic background in a relevant creative discipline and a high-quality personal portfolio will be highly regarded.
Language Requirements
- Fluent English is required
- Mandarin or Cantonese language skills are an advantage
