Position Overview:
Contributes to the day to day cleaning requirements at the Kitchener Market, performing assigned duties.

Responsibilities:
  • Clears tables when customers are finished. Promptly clean table tops and chairs between seating. Checks floor and cleans as required.
  • Cleans and polishes metalwork, such as fixtures, fittings, and elevators.
  • Sweeps, dry mops, and wet mops floors.
  • Cleans entrance doors, windows, and glass.
  • Inspect assigned restroom every 60 minutes; cleans and disinfects sinks, countertops, toilets, mirrors, walls, and all touch spots as required.
  • Replenishes supplies.
  • Refills cleaning bottles with solution from dispenser.
  • Restocks paper towel and toilet paper dispensers.
  • Empties garbage, recycling, and composting receptacles.
  • Uses a 2-way radio to communicate with staff.
  • Receives and responds to calls throughout the day to clean up spills.
  • Responds appropriately to customers' requests.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Requirements:
  • Must have some secondary school education.
  • Must have a minimum of up to 1 month of related experience.
  • Must be willing to work various shifts to accommodate work schedules or special projects including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Must have a knowledge of proper floor care and cleaning techniques, as per industry standards including but not limited to the safe and proper use of custodial equipment such as floor-scrubbers, sweepers, burnishers, floor buffers, and steam cleaners for walls and tiles and related procedures.
  • Must have knowledge of Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) for the safe use and clean-up of hazardous materials.
  • Must have well developed customer service skills.
  • Must be reliable with a good attitude and employment record.
