Job Overview
We are a family medicine clinic committed to delivering high-quality, patient-centred care in a warm, respectful, and supportive environment. We are seeking a motivated and capable Clinical Assistant / Medical Office Assistant to join our team.
As an integral member of our clinic, you will work closely with the physician and clinical staff to ensure the smooth day-to-day running of the practice. This is a dynamic, fast-paced position requiring excellent organisational and communication skills, strong attention to detail, and a genuine commitment to providing outstanding patient care. Your contribution will play a key role in shaping the patient experience as we establish and expand our services.
Key Responsibilities
- Greet, support, and communicate with patients both in person and by telephone.
- Schedule appointments, manage patient enquiries, and liaise between patients and the physician.
- Assist with medical examinations and minor procedures (e.g. injections, PAP smears, suture removal, ear syringing, cryotherapy).
- Review reports and results, update charts under physician supervision, and relay findings to patients as directed.
- Support chronic disease management (e.g. diabetes, hypertension, heart disease) and preventive care.
- Prepare and complete third-party forms (insurance, Service Canada/Ontario, WSIB, ODSP, MTO, MOH).
- Provide patient education and counselling on preventive health measures.
- Maintain confidentiality and uphold the highest standards of medical ethics.
- Perform administrative tasks including data entry, filing, faxing, copying, and correspondence handling.
- Order, stock, and manage office and medical supplies.
Qualifications
- Experience as a Clinical Assistant or Medical Office Assistant in a family practice or healthcare setting.
- Strong grasp of medical terminology and ability to communicate clearly with patients.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Professional phone manner and ability to manage a multi-line system under pressure.
- Proven ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
- High attention to detail, fast typing speed, and excellent computer literacy.
- Certification in injection administration (or willingness to complete training).
Skills
- Experience with EMR systems (training available if needed).
- Flexible availability, including occasional extended hours.
- International Medical Graduates are welcome.
