The Health Technology Operations- Counties Manukau provides a health technology consultancy, clinical engineering services and medical equipment maintenance support service to all departments across Counties Manukau District. These services extend to all hospitals and outpatient clinics. We are a team of 38 professionals.

Operating from Middlemore Hospital Campus, we are looking for an energetic and talented Clinical Engineering Information & Communication Technology (ICT) Technologist to join our team. This is an evolving role, and this is your opportunity to help grow the role with a focus to provide specialist clinical engineering ICT services to not only Counties Manukau but also HTM nationally. This will include on-going Clinical Engineering ICT consultancy and guidance services that can include carrying out risk assessment of new technology and equipment being looked at. Locally at Counties Manukau you will be involved in the acceptance testing of new equipment, performing verification testing, carrying out preventative and corrective maintenance as well as conducting various assessments across the hospitals and clinics served by HTM.

To be successful in this role you will need to have:

  • Relevant tertiary engineering qualification NZQA level 5/6 or equivalent level of practical experience, e.g., Diploma or degree in Electronics, ICT or Electrical Engineering and/or Clinical Engineering).
  • 5+ years’ hands on experience in Information and Communication Technology (ICT) technical field with a good understanding of ICT systems (including networks, hardware -servers, etc.) and software
  • Registered as an Electrical Appliance Serviceperson or higher class with the Electrical Workers Registration Board (Must achieve a pass in the EWRB practical assessment and written examination within 12 months and must achieve registration within 24 months of start date).
  • Strong technical skills and understanding of medical equipment and/or ICT principles, electronics, and mechanical systems.
  • Proficiency in using diagnostic tools, testing equipment, and specialized software.
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities and the capacity to work well under pressure.
  • Effective communication skills to interact with medical staff, vendors, and other stakeholders.
  • Attention to detail and a commitment to upholding patient safety and regulatory standards.
  • Ability to learn quickly, adapt to new technologies, and stay updated on industry trends.
  • A professional team player attitude.
  • Self-Managed (Honest, Integrity, Reliable and punctual).
  • Dynamic self-starter, who is outcome/solution focussed.
  • English language proficiency.
  • Strong computer Literacy.
    • Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE) and/or Cisco Certified Network Associated (CCNA) certified would be an advantage
    • Bachelors in Computer Science, Information Technology Management or relevant Engineering field would be an advantage
