Royal North Shore Hospital (RNSH) is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse to provide after hours support for newly graduated Registered Nurses (RN) in the role of After Hours Clinical Nurse Educator. The position is permanent part time, 16hrs per week, Mon-Friday evenings.

The role will provide educational support after hours for the Royal North Shore Hospital GradStart Registered Nurses. The CNE will be responsible for liaising with ward NUMs, CNEs, Team Leaders and GradStart RNs to assist with the transition of the nurses into practise. The CNE has a role in the provision and facilitation of education and support for the GradStart Registered Nurses. The CNE will be responsible for clinical teaching, and assessing staff in accordance with RNSH based competencies or other competencies. The CNE is committed to high standards of care, should be a good communicator, easily approachable, flexible and promote adherence to policies, procedures and guidelines.

Candidates will need to meet the following criteria:
  • Holds AHPRA Registration as a Registered Nurse AND holds relevant clinical or education post registration qualifications or such education and clinical experience deemed appropriate by the employer.
  • Demonstrated effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Demonstrated ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Demonstrated ability to practice safe nursing care and knowledge of policies and clinical practice guidelines.
  • Demonstrated commitment to evidence based practice, continuous quality improvement and risk management.
