Clinical Nurse Specialist - Burns
Location: Hutt Hospital - Lower Hutt - Wellington

Contract: Permanent full time 1.0 FTE Rostered and Rotating

Salary: NZNO Meca Senior nursing scale - based on experience and skills (pro rata)

About the Role

The Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) Burns provides specialist nursing advice, care and expertise, both in delivering direct patient care and in supporting other staff caring for patients with burn injuries. This CNS role provides comprehensive burn injury assessment and management within the maxillofacial, burns and plastic surgery inpatient (Unit) and plastics outpatient setting.

About the Team/Service/ Location

The Wellington Regional Burn Unit (RBU) is integrated within the Wellington Plastic Surgery service. The Wellington Regional RBU is one of four RBUs in Aotearoa New Zealand, which along with the National Burn Centre located in Middlemore Hospital form an integrated National Burn Service. This role will be based at Hutt Hospital.

About you:

The person best suited for this role will have the following:

  • Has a current New Zealand Nursing Registration
  • Can provide clinical expertise and leadership on plastics & burn care
  • Will ensure patient treatment and care is co-ordinated, comprehensive and informed by specialist knowledge.
  • Clinical expertise and experience aligning with Maxillofacial, Burns and Plastic Surgery
  • An enthusiasm and passion for ongoing nursing practice development
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, facilitation and coaching skills
