The Role
The Clinical Nurse Specialist 2 (CNS mental health provides a high standard of care in the assessment & management of mental health issues as well as discharge planning and transfer of care.
The successful applicant must demonstrate strong clinical leadership in the ongoing development & review of treatment planning and clinical review systems for patients with mental health concerns.
This position requires the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously. The position holder will be required to process and manage complex and simultaneous issues as part of their regular workload and must demonstrate the ability to enhance organisational performance through collaboration and development of good working relationships with Corrective Services-NSW and JH&FMHN more broadly to provide a “whole of service” approach to patient care.
ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS
- Current authority to practice as a Registered Nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia and a current NSW driver’s licence.
- Three years full-time experience working in mental health and post-graduate qualification in mental health.
Our Service and Team
CMH includes a specialist mental health team with mental health nurses (MHNs), nurse practitioners (NPs), Aboriginal Mental Health Clinicians, psychiatrists, career medical officers (CMOs), and psychiatry registrars who are supported by administrative and managerial staff.
CMH clinicians work alongside staff from other clinical streams and CSNSW staff, including Psychology, Offender Services and Programs, and Custodial Operations staff in the provision of mental health services. Mental health services begin at the point of reception and continue through to release from custody or transfer to another correctional centre.
