PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:
The CMM Technician / Programmer is responsible for performing accurate dimensional inspection of aerospace components using Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM) and other precision inspection equipment.
The position is responsible for developing, editing, modifying, and maintaining CMM programs, and production inspections, and ensuring inspection results comply with engineering drawings, GD&T requirements, customer specifications, and company quality procedures.
The CMM Technician / Programmer must have strong technical knowledge and be capable of independently analyzing measurement results, troubleshooting inspection issues, and making sound technical decisions with minimal supervision.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Operate CMM equipment to perform accurate dimensional inspections of aerospace components.
· Develop, edit, modify, and maintain CMM inspection programs.
· Use MCOSMOS software for CMM programming and inspection.
· Interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and GD&T requirements.
· Perform dimensional layouts and verify product characteristics against engineering requirements.
· Perform daily or required CMM probe qualification and verification.
· Use precision inspection equipment, including calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, height gauges, and other measuring devices.
· Analyze CMM inspection results and identify dimensional or measurement issues.
· Troubleshoot CMM programs, measurement problems, and inspection issues independently.
· Identify and report nonconforming conditions and communicate issues to the appropriate personnel.
· Support FAI and submission requirements.
· Work closely with Quality, Manufacturing, and Engineering to resolve dimensional and inspection issues.
· Prioritize inspection workload based on production requirements and customer priorities.
· Ensure all inspection activities are performed in accordance with company procedures, customer requirements, and applicable aerospace standards
· Maintain a clean, organized, and safe inspection work area
· Perform other duties as assigned
EDUCATION
REQUIREMENTS
· College diploma or technical certificate in a related field (e.g., Metrology, Quality, Mechanical Engineering) or equivalent experience.
TECHNICAL SKILLS
· Minimum 3 years of hands-on experience operating and programming CMMs.
· Strong practical experience with MCOSMOS software.
· Strong knowledge of GD&T and engineering drawing interpretation.
· Strong understanding of dimensional inspection and measurement techniques.
· Experience in aerospace manufacturing and inspection requirements is strongly preferred
· Proficient in using precision measuring equipment such as calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, height gauges, and related inspection tools.
· Ability to develop, edit, modify, and troubleshoot CMM programs independently.
· Ability to analyze CMM results and determine whether measurements meet drawing and customer requirements.
· Ability to identify measurement errors and troubleshoot CMM or inspection issues.
· Ability to communicate technical issues clearly with Quality, Manufacturing, and Engineering personnel
