We currently have an opening for a CNC Programmer & Setup Technician on a full-time permanent basis. Reporting to the Director of Manufacturing, the Senior CNC Programmer & Setup Technician will be responsible for a range of duties including but not limited to the following:
Responsibilities:
- Develop and optimize CNC programs for complex components using CAD/CAM software.
- Set up, adjust, and qualify CNC and conventional machines for production runs.
- Operate CNC machines to produce parts according to specifications and schedules.
- Inspect and verify finished parts and tooling using precision measuring instruments, maintaining quality standards.
- Edit programs and make cutter changes to ensure accurate production.
- Diagnose and resolve issues with CNC machines, programs, and production processes.
- Perform machine repairs, including troubleshooting and maintenance of precision measuring instruments and equipment.
- Maintain and service chemical bluing processes and calibrate tools as needed.
- Collaborate with design engineers, production managers, and other team members to enhance productivity and achieve production goals.
- Implement process improvements to enhance efficiency, quality, and output.
- Maintain accurate records of programming, setup sheets, inspection reports, and process adjustments.
- Develop First Article Inspection reports and report deviations from specifications to supervisors.
Education and Experience:
- Minimum of 5 years of experience as a CNC Programmer, Setup Technician, or Maintenance Technician, preferably in the firearms industry or a related field.
- Associate degree in Manufacturing Technology, CNC Programming, or a related field preferred.
- Post-secondary education in machining, with experience in manual and semi-automated tools and machines.
- Proficiency in CAD/CAM software (e.g., Mastercam, SolidWorks) and G-code programming.
- In-depth knowledge of CNC machines, including mills, lathes, and multi-axis machining centers.
- CNC service and repair experience, with troubleshooting and repair skills.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality components.
- Ability to obtain a Possession and Acquisition License (PAL).
- Prior experience in a manufacturing environment is an asset.
