Company Description
Prospect Anchor and Tool (PAT) is a small U.S. manufacturer of stainless steel undercut concrete anchors and the installation tools that go with them. Our anchors are used on real infrastructure and industrial jobs where you need reliable, repeatable performance in concrete, including overhead and seismic-type applications. We build everything around durability, consistency, and installability, and we take domestic compliance seriously (BABA / Buy America). Our focus is straightforward: make a product that performs in the field and back it up with solid manufacturing.
Role Summary
Have you ever wanted to run a shop floor instead of just running a machine? Maybe you’re doing good work and ready for the next step, but the opportunity to move up just isn’t there. At PAT, you’ll lead the manufacturing side of the business and have real input on how the operation improves and scales.
This role requires intimate, hands-on Haas experience. We need someone who can walk in and run our Haas ST-20Y without training, orientation, or hand-holding. We do not have the bandwidth to teach Haas controls, setup fundamentals, or basic troubleshooting. Our ST-20Y was previously programmed and was producing our components. We have setup sheets and existing programs, but we need an experienced Haas person to bring production back online quickly and tighten the process where needed.
Beyond getting today’s programs running, we want to expand what we manufacture in-house over time. We currently outsource some machined parts to a third party. The right candidate will help us identify what we should be making internally and then build those processes from scratch.
We’re flexible on arrangement. This can start part-time/contract (including after-hours/weekends if you’re currently employed elsewhere) with a path to full-time for the right fit.
Experience (read this carefully)
- Must have strong, hands-on HAAS experience
- Lathe with Y-axis/live tooling and bar feeder experience is a plus.
- Must be able to set up, prove out, and run production independently on a Haas with minimal direction
- Ability to understand, edit, and ideally write G-code (you don’t need to be a CAM wizard, but you need to be comfortable in code)
- Comfortable troubleshooting programs/tooling and stabilizing an existing process
- Ability to read basic prints/specs and work independently
- Stainless experience (316) is a plus
- Bar feeder experience is a plus
- CAM experience (Mastercam/Fusion/SolidWorks or similar) is a plus
- Experience taking parts from “outsourced” to “in-house” production is a major plus
Key Responsibilities
CNC Programming and Setup
- Work with existing programs and setup documentation, then modify/improve as needed to bring production back online and stabilize the process
- Set up the Haas ST-20Y for production runs (material loading strategy, tooling selection, workholding, offsets)
- Write/modify programs using G-code and/or CAM as needed
- Adjust machine settings (feeds/speeds, tool offsets, toolpaths) to keep the process stable and efficient
Machine Operation
- Run the Haas ST-20Y to manufacture parts based on work instructions and basic prints/specs
- Monitor the run and make practical adjustments to keep output consistent and the machine running smoothly
- Keep the workflow efficient: avoid scrap runs, minimize downtime, and keep output predictable
Quality Checks (practical, not aerospace)
- Perform reasonable in-process checks using common measuring tools (mics/calipers/gauges as needed)
- Confirm first parts are correct, then keep the process consistent during production
- Maintain simple notes/records so the process is repeatable and doesn’t depend on tribal knowledge
Maintenance and Troubleshooting
- Perform routine maintenance (cleaning, lubrication, basic checks) and keep the area organized and safe
- Troubleshoot issues with programs, tooling, or machine behavior to minimize downtime
- Coordinate outside support for more complex repairs when needed
Tool Management
- Select and install the right inserts/cutters/fixtures for each run
- Track tool wear and maintain a tool-change approach that keeps output consistent
- Keep tooling organized so setups are repeatable
Documentation and Continuous Improvement
- Maintain basic program notes, setup notes, and what you changed (so we don’t lose improvements)
- Suggest improvements to tooling, setup, sequencing, and workflow to increase efficiency and reduce headaches
- Identify parts we currently outsource to a third party that make sense to bring in-house, then build the process (programming, setup, tooling plan, repeatable production)
- (Optional but ideal) Help prototype new parts/products from scratch as PAT grows
Schedule / Arrangement
Flexible. Open to part-time/contract to start (after-hours and weekends welcome), with a path to full-time for the right fit.
Pay
Above-market pay for the right candidate. If you can lead the operation, bring production back online, and expand what we make in-house, we’ll pay accordingly.
