Job Title: CNC Set-Up & Operator

Location: FreeFORM Technologies – St. Marys, PA

Position Summary

FreeFORM Technologies, a leader in advanced manufacturing specializing in metal injection molding (MIM) and metal additive manufacturing (binder jetting), is seeking a highly skilled CNC Set-Up & Operator to support our precision machining operations.

This role plays a critical part in finishing high-performance components used across industries including aerospace, defense, firearms, industrial, and medical applications. The ideal candidate thrives in a high-mix, tight-tolerance environment and is comfortable working with both production and development parts coming out of additive and MIM processes.

Key Responsibilities

· Set up and operate CNC mills and lathes to machine sintered MIM and binder jet components to final tolerance

· Program, edit, and optimize CNC programs using Mitsubishi and/or Fanuc controllers

· Generate and refine toolpaths using GibbsCAM or Autodesk Fusion 360

· Interpret complex engineering drawings, GD&T, and critical-to-function features

· Select tooling, work offsets, and machining strategies for hardened or near-net-shape components

· Perform first article inspections and in-process checks using precision metrology equipment

· Troubleshoot machining challenges related to material variability from sintering or additive processes

· Work closely with engineering to improve part design for manufacturability (DFM) and reduce cycle times

· Maintain high standards for quality, organization, and safety within the shop

Qualifications

· 3+ years of CNC setup and operation experience (mills and lathes)

· Strong experience with Mitsubishi and/or Fanuc controls

· Proficiency in GibbsCAM or Fusion 360 for toolpath generation

· Ability to machine tight-tolerance components

· Strong understanding of tooling, speeds/feeds, and material behavior

· Ability to read and interpret detailed technical drawings and GD&T

· Experience with precision inspection tools (micrometers, calipers, indicators, height gauges, etc.)

Preferred Qualifications

· Experience machining MIM or additive manufactured components

· Background in firearms, aerospace, or defense manufacturing

· Experience with workholding and fixture design, especially for complex or irregular geometries

· Familiarity with secondary operations such as tapping, reaming, or surface finishing of sintered parts

· Continuous improvement mindset with a focus on efficiency and repeatability

Pay: $19.00 - $28.00 per hour
