CNC Waterjet Operator

Location: Windsor, ON
Job Type: Full-Time, Permanent
Shift: Days (with occasional overtime as required)
Compensation: Competitive hourly wage based on experience

Position Summary

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented CNC Waterjet Operator to join our manufacturing team. The successful candidate will be responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining CNC waterjet cutting equipment to produce high-quality components in accordance with engineering drawings and customer specifications.

This position requires a strong mechanical aptitude, blueprint reading skills, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced manufacturing environment while maintaining high standards of quality and safety.

Key Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate CNC waterjet cutting machines to produce parts according to engineering drawings and work orders.
  • Load and unload raw materials using overhead cranes, forklifts, or other material handling equipment as required.
  • Verify machine programs, material specifications, and cutting parameters before production.
  • Perform machine adjustments and offsets to ensure dimensional accuracy and optimal cutting performance.
  • Inspect finished parts using measuring instruments such as calipers, tape measures, micrometers, and gauges.
  • Conduct first-off, in-process, and final quality inspections.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and work instructions.
  • Monitor machine performance and identify opportunities to improve efficiency and reduce scrap.
  • Perform routine machine maintenance, cleaning, and preventive maintenance activities.
  • Troubleshoot minor machine, programming, and production issues.
  • Maintain accurate production and quality records.
  • Follow all company safety procedures and housekeeping standards.
  • Assist with other manufacturing and production duties as required.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years of experience operating CNC equipment, preferably CNC waterjet, plasma, laser, or machining equipment.
  • Strong blueprint reading and GD&T interpretation skills.
  • Experience using precision measuring equipment.
  • Basic understanding of CNC programming and machine setup principles.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting abilities.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent attention to detail and commitment to quality.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in a manufacturing environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous CNC Waterjet operating experience.
  • Experience with Flow, OMAX, KMT, Bystronic, or similar waterjet systems.
  • Forklift and/or overhead crane certification.
  • Experience with nesting software and CAD/CAM programs.
  • Knowledge of metal fabrication and manufacturing processes.

Pay: $25.00-$30.00 per hour
